Had to work all weekend so I did my long run Saturday and long ride yesterday. Got in 17.75 miles on the run. The last two were a little tough but, I made it. Yesterday was 80 miles on the bike. I didn't bonk like
last time because I took 9 gels with me this time! Legs were tired for the last 15-20 miles though and the headwind/hills were tough! This was a new route I started. I will have to load up the garmin and see how much I climbed. Did two miles running after I got off the bike and had to slow myself down to stay in zone 2! My body wanted to run 6:50 miles lol.

Thinking about driving up to Madison on Sunday to ride the course. Saturday would be ideal but, I like to do the runs the day before my ride so my legs are not toast if I did it the other way around.

Happy training folks!

I just posted in the 'Sconnie forum that I am planning (dependent on weather and schedule) on a one-looper on the bike course this coming Sunday morning.

Our family is hosting a French student for about 10 days and he'll be coming in this Friday eve, so not 100% sure at this moment (I think the good wife won't mind), but I'll be updating my 'Sconnie post).

I'm planning wheels out around 7:30 am starting at the B.P. gas station (across from Gray's Tied House) at the end of "the stick" on the course.  No drop ride.

Great weather yesterday not so much so today but I did manage to take the afternoon off for work and take advantage of the nice weather and get in a 52 mile ride. Need to start streching those miles out on the long ride.

1 IM bike loop completed in friggin' freezing temps and blowin' wind.  Brrrrrrrrrr.  I had layers but the extremities got numb (toes and fingers).  Good ride all in all, though.  The route is looking pretty good 'cept for a couple of potholes and a dead possum that we were able to avoid.

Yes not a great day to be out.  Yesterday's brick consisted of partially sunny weather followed by what appeared to be hail or snow falling down to go along with the crazy wind.  Weird (and crappy) weather we've had the past few days.

That wind was something else today huh? Saturday I ran 19 miles and then today I contended with the vicious wind for 66 miles and ran 2 after that. It was a pretty cold/windy ride here in NW Illinois but I did manage to find a Cat 5 hill that took my legs away! Gonna have to do some repeats on it!

Happy Training!

Good to see everyone getting out there and getting some good long rides and runs in. I thought it was spring where is this warm weather? It was great here in NY on Friday and this morning it's like fall all over again.

Where are you starting from? I have not ridden the course before would be good to ride with someone else. What pace are you riding? I am not that fast.

Where in general is best place to park/start from? Verona?

. There are many great places. It depends on people's preferences. I park in the back side of the parking lot of Gray's Tied House in Verona at the end of "the stick" portion of the bike course (Whalen Road and Hwy PB). I used to park in the BP gas station parking lot until some new building got put in. The BP has toilets, and you can get chocolate milk and their awesome cookies after a ride. The bike route has many arrow markings on the road prior to the turns, so it is hard not to get lost. But it doesn't hurt to download the bike course PDF file on the IM WI website - you should be able to do a Google search and find it.

A hair under 16 weeks to go folks! Last week was a recovery week and I think I needed it. Missed a few key workouts due to weather/ family birthdays/WORK! Oh well there is nothing I can do about it now. We had a tornado it sounds like just north of us a ways where I ride a lot and no one was hurt I guess. Looks like my ride tonight is going to either get canceled or we will be dodgeing storms. Was chased home and had y long run cut short to 6 miles last night due to that nasty storm that blew in. Hope everyone is doing good!

I rode the loop yesterday with a 3 mile run after. There was barely any one out there. I have to say that I was pretty surprised. I figured it would be packed.

Good to see everybody getting their workouts in. I had a good week last week and finished it off Saturday with a 55 mile bike ride. The loop I rode had some of the IMWI bike profile in there so that helps and it was brutally windy out. Looks like rain on and off this week here in NY so I may be training indoors most of the week but looking forward to this weekend. I have a 4 day weekend and will be getting my first OWS of the season in and should be getting a couple long rides in as well.

I was out there to in the morning and was surprised as well not to see many out. Day turned out to be pretty good.

Has anyone gone for a swim in the lake yet? I'm heading up from Central Ill on Wednesday for a couple loops on the bike, but was wondering if I should also bring up the wetsuit and try to get an afternoon swim in. Anyone......? Thanks!

Haven't swam in the lake but i can tell you it'll be cold. I would venture a guess of around 58-60.

It's been pretty quiet here hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and was able to take adavantage of that to get some training it. Good week for me last week I was able to get in about 15.5 hours of training even with all the crappy weather here in NY. Hope everybody's training is going well.

Definitely bring your wetsuit anytime. The lakes don't get swimming pool warm around here.
