Just to add a bit about copyright laws. I am also not a lawyer, but a few weeks ago there was a talk about it on our local radio. Apparently some individuals in Green Bay were getting sued for showing the games in a movie theater and allowing free admission for fans to watch. Where there was no monetary gains, they were still in violation as they were allowing more then 5 people to watch. From what was said on the radio, it sounded like even Superbowl parties with more than 5 people technically violate the copyright laws. The broadcasts are intended to be viewed by 5 or less people within any establishment, including your own home. I do however doubt the NFL will be sending anyone out to the multitude of football parties throughout the year.

auto208562 - 2008-01-15 1:15 AM Maybe we should focus some of our efforts toward the auction that will be held in February to raise money to benefit the victims of child sexual abuse. What do you guys think?

That's a good idea.

And not to belabor it, but there's a lot of "advice" and opinions floating around here.  Doesn't matter what your business professor said, but you are in violation of federal copyright laws if you make a copy of a copyrighted broadcast and give it away.  Yes, people do it all the time.  Yes, people rarely get caught (see Napster).  Doesn't mean it's legal.  This is not legal advice - nor is any attorney-client relationship established with anyone, this is just offered for educational purposes.

I was just stating something I remembered from years ago in a business law class.  This site has helped me in the past and I was was just offering something I learned years ago.  Maybe I should not offer opinions here anymore unless I know for a fact they are right!  From now on I will defer to Marma.

Can I make a mention to please let this pass or at least take it to another thread. It really is starting to get in the way of the spirit of the thread.

someone needs to start a new pay it forward thread since this one has been seriously hijacked.

I wish you guys would have posted your whole copyright arguement/discussion in COJ instead of here.

Hi,

I have a pair of Ryka womens size 8.5 running shoes that have been barely worn, 10 miles maybe. They just don't work for me so I am back to Sauconys. They are the MC2 Run shoes, I think if you google that you can see them.

If anyone needs a new pair of shoes I'd gladly send them your way (probably best if you know Ryka works for you because they seem to have some quirks- higher on the sides than most shoes I have had, on the narrow side through the laces).

Send me a PM if you're interested!

*Kerry

I've got three spiral bound mileage/run log books (Galloway). One has a few of the logging pages removed, but is still in perfect condition. I can ship media mail.

To clarify - this is just for logging your runs and recording details and stuff, the pages have a layout approx. 8 1/2 x 11 size.  I think it has 3 days per page.

I have a pair of Shimano SPD pedals that are free to a good home.  They are a little scratched up but work fine.  Clips are not included, but can be bought at any bike shop.

I am in the process of digging up some gear I bought that never fit me correctly. But please look at my thread in the classified section if you have a 53c, 54c 650c tri frame you would want to part with.

This thread has been going so well, it deserved a bump. I believe I have sent thank yous in the postal mail for things I have recieved (if not, it's just an oversight, let me know plz) - and I have 1 more package (of bike shoes) to send out to someone.

I got a new set of leg and arm warmers over xmas, when I put them away I'll be digging through more stuff.

Lets keep this thread going. No more copyright arguement plz, take it elsewhere, and please no begging for goodies.

Not begging but can we make it a rule that you can't get multiple items? Some people have received many things while others are always a few minutes late (like me). I'm a newbie and some of this stuff that these great people are giving away would really help me out because of all the costs that add up.

I think we already hashed this out previously in the posting, but ultimately it is up to the poster who is giving the item away, who they wish to receive it.  Let's not complicate this by having too many "rules".  Everyone play fair, don't be greedy, and if you received an item, consider playing along too by posting with something you don't need anymore, or by making a donation to charity.

I agree esp. if you get something and then wind up buying something down the line, I would put the item back in the forum. It can be a nice circle.

I have been one of the people who have recieved a few things, I'm just quick to the punch, and happen to be near a computer most days. I have additionally put several items out there for others, so it's been about a wash for me. I don't think there needs to be rules, if someone wants to give something away, they can give it to whoever they want, and if you are a few minutes late, sorry, just the way it is.

Quick question to the posters who have been having issues with "being a few minutes late" - have you offered anything on this post yet?

The beauty, there are no rules. If someone wants to give something away, they can give it to the first person who responds, the persone they feel who needs it the most, or even just whoever they like better. Again, just the way it is.

Myself, I give stuff away to whoever asks for it first. There may not be a second person ask for it today, next week or ever, so if someone wants it, and they ask for it, they get it. Plain and simple.
