Subject: RE: Birkierunner's group - CLOSED Congratulations, Mike!! Actually, that was an awesome race report and a really successful first triathlon! I suppose I'll only be seeing the back end of you at the TryCharleston in April Seriously, very well done. Jessica, it's great to hear that you are able to juggle everything and not miss a session. This is one of my biggest worries for upcoming marathon training. I throw everything out the window when company comes or work gets too crazy. I heard something good on a podcast recently: you can't manage your time, but you can manage what you do with your time. Oh yes, the time is going to tick away no matter what, so what do I want to be able to say I accomplished at the end of the day (or week or month)? I got my shorter runs in this week and 1 swim workout so far. Still lagging behind on the bike workouts. Swim drills: I recently got a list of drills from a friend that included the fingertip drag drill (high elbows, arm relaxed, dragging the finger tips over the surface). A swimmer and tri-coach I know also recommends doing a simple stroke count drill. In my mind, that hardly qualifies as a drill, but I suppose it's good to do them now and then to gauge progress. Then, do you do any kick drills using a board? I don't. I wonder if we should be doing those? |
