Beat my expected time on the swim, did exactly what I expected on the bike, and walked more than half of the run (not what I was planning)..I wasn't prepared for doing that 13.1 AFTER the 56 mile bike. Fred and Anne - thanks so much for all of your support and advice. You guys helped make my first 70.3 a great experience (African Grass Lands and all!!) Fred, you passed me on the run just as I got on the course and you were JAMMING, I could tell you were doing great. Congratulations!! Erin - Thanks for the company and moral support  Congrats to the rest of you BT's, hope every one had their own great race! |

| New user 74 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread Cube (and others). Thanks for all the info and tips. Dipping the hat in the water/ice was amazing. I'm with ya on not doing it again until they change the run. I messed up my knee on the second lap and just walked the rest. Already looking at races closer to home around the same time (I'm told Eagleman has the same heat/humidity  ).The best part of the race was the volunteers. On the bike course, I didn't see any bottles go flying into the crowd (they made sure someone had a grip). Second thing they need to work on is the drafting in the 35-39 groups. I counted 7 packs of 3-8 riders. |

I was soooo dying and bumbed they DIDN'T have Gatorade at the finish or in the pizza line and they were out of Coke. Went back later and got a coke. I hope some of what I posted helped a few of you to have a better day. Im happy breaking 6hrs but will not return to this race until they change that run course. I swear It was 10 degrees hotter on that grass/dirt. Having my Gatorade I.V. now...lol FM Cube, I have to agree with you on the run course change! It is such a miserable course! I probably will be back but only because my wife wants to give it a try (she was one of the several pregnant ladies out there today), but why cant they just pave those f'ing trails or try another route. Congrats to all for finishing today!! I am glad that is over and ready to take a day off then get back to it. |

I'm happy with it as with my back going out on Tuesday/related neck problem and my doctor not allowing me to run on my foot (tearing big toe joint up) I was thinking it highly unlikely that I even finished. The bike was highly uncomfortable for me (back/neck issue) and then the run just HOT! I was upset that the massages were $1/minute! Never heard of that before! I really needed one, but wasn't prepared to have to pay.... I also got to transition late in the morning as the buses were late...anyone else in that same line with me??? And I thought of you when I saw the green sports beans on the ground during the run...shortly after the timing mats at that turnaround and wondered if they were yours? Great job everyone! |

Cube, we were parked next to what i believe was your Element, however, i think you had already jumped on the bus before we got out our gear |

My swim was fine, my bike was awesome, until the head winds at mile 40, and then I either brused a bone or got a stress fracture when I stepped off the bike. I could barely walk the first loop. I almost had to stop. I went to the med tent and iced it for about ten minutes, which seemed to help. I am glad I finished, but disappointed I could run at all. I don't know if I will do this again. The swim and bike are fine, but the run is really hot. Thanks to Fred for all your info for this race, it helped a lot. |

After 40 your body warranty expires and little things start to crop up. Feelng pertty good today, could use a massage on the legs and an adjustment on my neck. Heading out for a BIG breakfast at Cracker Barrel...YUM. The high yesterday was posted as 90 degrees...felt like 95-100 on the run. Great job by everyone pushing through and making it happen. Im doing Oly and Sprints the rest of the summer until Sept when Ann and I are doing the Augusta 70.3. Best to all the rest of the summer!! FM |

Had trouble clipping in and nailed my shin with pedal. The gently rolling (not) hills and headwind killed me by the end of the bike. Walked more of the run than I intended but there were more people walking than I would have thought. Happy to see my wife and daugher on the 2nd loop. Inpired me to go around again and finish! The heat didn't bother me, just the 13.1 miles on wobbly legs. Finishing secured my lottery spot in Clearwater! Six months to train better. |

I was on pace to hit my goal of sub-6 but I was the guy you may have seen throwing up right after the entrance of the (T2) transition area. I botched my nutrition on the bike and couldn't keep anything down. Spent 15 mins in T2, and after being told to call it a day I dragged myself out to the run course. It was going well until the grass. I suffered through the run with almost no caloric intake and walked more than I'd like to admit. I got it together on the last lap though, mostly b/c I saw a few peeps showing off there medals and I had to have one too. Oh well, aside from a little sunburn I'm feeling like a champ today. It's hard to believe that much suffering goes on on Disney property on that long stretch of sunny grass. The run was a suffer-fest for me but I would do it again. I like to run in the heat and sun here in Orlando and thought I was prepared, but not so much really. I told myself about 100 times that I would not be making that race a tradition, but afterwards I see that I know and talked to a lot of people that had pretty killer times. Obviously the run didn't get to them and I'll be working on that too. I'll be back for more. Congrats everybody. |

I am thinking about 300yds. My bike computer said 57 miles. Then my knee started hurting on the run and walked most of the half mary. Not a good weekend for me. |

If so it might have been me I swam nice and easy, biked nice and easy started the run as strong as I could be. I took it easy with a run walk strategy. Heat didn't bother me at all, but then again I don't think it was as hot and humid as last year. I was very happy with the way my 'heat aclimation technique' worked. l and I didn't train even 1 minute in the heat of the day! If anyone wants the scoop on getting ready for the heat I am happy to let you know. Congrats to all! |
