Heh... I have a friend that teaches at a fancy, upscale gym that does karaoke spin. She puts the karaoke DVDs up on the drop down screens. She is actually a really incredible singer so she always sounds good. The members, however? Not so much .

Exhibit C loved that. He is singing "ride my bicycle" over and over again... |

Sneaky Slow 8694 Herndon, VA, | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps I'm a little behind %-wise but right on plan. I do my planned bike hours for the week, I'm at my goal. So it's all good. My problem is that I've been balancing this challenge with getting ready for my first 10-mile road race on April 6th. In retrospect, maybe it wasn't the best possible month to do a bike challenge. But it's all good. |

Extreme Veteran 378 Really South | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps I teach spinning and it is everything in my power to breathe, talk and be motivational at the same time. I try to stick to one syllable words. I've tried getting off my bike to walk around and motivate my members but each time I try that they yell at me (in a nice way) to get back on my bike. |

Extreme Veteran 665 Vancouver, British Columbia | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps Allyson- I would yell at you to get back on your bike too Tim- a 10mile race... awesome!!! Use your bike hours as some recovery and just stick with the plan. I made it to 100%. Now i can go to my conference in Memphis with a clear head. Did ya know Elvis wanted a guitar for his 11th birthday. His mom said it was to expensive and bought him a guitar instead. And I need some advice- Do I go to Graceland? i don't really have any interest in seeing it but at the same time I feel like since I'm there I might as well. Any messages you would like me to pass on to the King if I decide to go? ok. time to stop scouting out running routes near the hotel and get back to polishing my paper.... yup i'm addicted to this triathlon thing. |

Nice job!! I think if you go over 100%, it counts the same for purposes of the challenge as if you did 100%. No bonus points. But don't let that stop you!! I'm at 76%. 100% won't be a problem. The hard ride was tonight, 1 1/2 hours of intervals and rest the day after my longest run ever. I'm not dead, so I must be stronger. I think. The rest of my biking week is all Z1-2 stuff. I <3 Z1. |

It was off the beaten path and I prbly couldn't find it again if I tried. Coffee Call - ROCKS!!!!!DANG IT!!! Now I'm hungry!!!! That has to be a play on words referencing the Mardis Gras Indians. Look 'em up. It's pretty interesting stuff. Jock-A-Mo was a "war" chant or something back when they would fight. Now it's contests of song, dance, and dress at Mardis Gras. (Abita also named their new IPA, Jockamo.) Ok, why did that all of the sudden come to me? Because they finally updated this site: http://www.ironmanneworleans.com/index.php Seeing my name on the start list is kinda cool/slap back to reality. Anybody up for a 70.3 miles and a huge party in the Big Easy?

I've never been able to shake some of the images of that place. |

Extreme Veteran 378 Really South | Subject: RE: Proud Pink Peeps I did one of the Abitaman tris several years ago and had to swim in Lake Ponchatrain. It was gross then and I can't and don't want to imagine now what it would be like. That is the only deterent for me not doing NO 70.3. I think I would rather swim the distance in a lap pool (snoozerama). |

Yeah, I keep thinkin' of a report from many years ago on how there were lots of old needles and other "medical" equipment being found on the steps of the lake. I'm sure they'll clean up the areas of entry and exit, but what do you do about floaties. And heaven's sake, do you realize how many boats actually illegally dump their bileage in the waterways? Well, as the daughter of a commercial fisherman and tugboat captain/owner, I know and beleive me, you don't want to know... UGH!!!!! |

It's so muddy it's about a foot of visibility, too. When you get on the bike and are finally dry, you are actually dirty, like you've been in a dust storm. Smells pretty good, too. |

A friend of mine wore a white triathlon top for a local triathlon that is held in Mobile Bay (which is just a slight notch below the gross factor from Lake Ponchatrain) and the jersey is now a nice dirty-kakhi color. She has washed, bleached, and re-bleached the jersey and it will never be the same again. Also, she forgot the jersey in her car overnight and the smell in her car lasted for weeks. For this race I am a volunteer this year just because I don't want to swim in the Mobile Bay. Last year at this tri I had a 5 minute T1 because I was too busy spitting out the taste from the water. If you ever see a person with a bottle of Listerine in her transition pack then that will be me! |

I'll have a spare bottle of water to at least dump on myslef and get the filth off my head and face in T1. Ofcourse, the cleanest water I swam in was in Sandestin, FL, but the joy of clean water was far outweighed by the jellyfish. |
