I skimmed the 100 push up challenge site... and I have a question.  Can I complete the challenge doing one of the "alternative" methods?  Can I do them on my knees?

If so... who's in with me?  I'll do my initial test Wednesday morning at the gym, then start next Monday.

I also hooked up with an old trainer that does Tri's.  She left my gyn a few months back and now she's a member of LA Fitness (the gym with the pool) and she can get me in for only $25 a month, plus she does bootcamps.  And I bet she'd help me with the Tri training.  I need to get back with her tonight.

Ran again today.  I'm going to do a spin class tomorrow, then weight train at 1030. Thursday will be my resting day... more like clean the house day!

Hah Hah Hah - imagine being able to run 10 miles! lol lol lol lol lol all the way home!!!Laughing

(I've got sooooo much running work to do when my chest gets better!Frown

I watched the BT video about the Kentucky IM last night - nice to see "normal" looking guys doing it, but gulp - a marathon at the end?! oh shhhucks!

I think my Big Ben Tri for Sept 2010 better be re-scheduled to 2013 and counting....!)

Am I best to increase the intensity with interval type training (with the occasional long run) or do I need to just pound away and churn out the miles ad infinitum?

I don't think you can do them on your knees, it explains it all, like where to start if you can only do 1 real pushup It may take more than 6 weeks if you struggle with a week you can repeat it. I'm on week 2 and already suprised with how much strength I'm getting back. You should try it!

You are funny  You can run ten miles in no time with a little training  I am positive you could do an IM... I think anyone can do one- all you have to do is train.....  I mean you have SEVENTEEN hours to finish!!!!

Id say most of your run training should be at Z2...just churing out the miles...but Id do one longer run and one tempo or interval session a week

January Goals

Swim - 7500 yards

Bike - 6 hours

Run - 30 miles

Yoga - 7.5 miles

I need to determine my heart rate zones and start using them to train.  I need to get used to exercising on a regular basis again.  I'm basing these goals on each discipline 2x a week.  I don't want to be overwhelmed and freak out that I can't fit everything in.  I really need to work on getting organized - it will help me in all areas.

Do you know your zones?  do you know how to figure them out?  I can help of course

I wanna know my zones.  How do I figure them out.

Damn we could have used your 5K last week!

basically you do an LT test..... for your next run wear a HRM.  warm up for ten minutes..really easy then restart or hit lap on your HRM (you dont want your WU included in the results) and run a good hard pace- one you couldnt go much faster but that you are able to hold for a good 20-30 minutes...your average HR is your LT.....from there Ican look up your HR zones.... they also include pace which is nice

have fun!!

Hi all -

This is where the "support" part of this team starts kickin' in . . .

So, I've been doing some thinking and I think my biggest problem/obstacle is making myself important enough to train.  I always feel like I should be doing something else instead.  My hubby is super supportive and pushes me to train in some way (thank goodness), but I still struggle every day.

For me- I WANT to train- I want to be winning my AG- I want to go sub 12 at IM.  I think of the other people in my AG  that are doing IMWI and wonder what THEY how they are training today.  Thats the competive drive in me though

Although I do know what you are saying....when my kids were small- I didnt thinkthey could survive without me.  I felt guilty leaving.  Eventually they got bigger and I realized I needed it- and I was much happier when I started running again.

You are lucky to have a supportive husband- take advantage of it!!!

Maybe pick a goal and work at...like if youre runningon the tread...... do the same amount of time once a week but see how much farther you can go.  Maybe a little goal will make you feel differently.  maybe not- what do i know??

It's from triswimcoach.com. It's advertised on this site and looks a lot like the Fish Like Freestyle DVD I used to own. I was just curious if any one had seen it if it was all it's cracked up to be as I'm looking to replace my long gone DVD. I do appreaciate the offer but it'll be a while before I'm swimming again so it wouldn't help my out much. I would forget anything I read by the time I went to use it.

When is IMWI? That's up in Madison isn't it?

I have always felt that way too. I am just getting to the point that I am ok with it and realizing how much better of a mom and wife I can be by getting that little bit of time to myself to train/meditate/think about myself every day. Seriously it has been therapeutic to me and I am taking full advantage of my husbands support! I've always given him time to go mtb when I was preggo and the babies were small so I feel it's fair. You deserve it and need it. I know it is hard, I was just talking to dh about it yesterday, but I am happier now that I am realizing how beneficial it has been for me to actually take that time for myself. He get's his turn too and the babies, well very active toddlers now, get more quality one on one time with each of us. It seems to work out great for our whole family.

My kids are 8,7 and 2.5.  My hubby is super supportive as well...he also does tris (cweninger here on BT).  We got into it together.  Anyway, when I train, I do so mostly at the Y.  Lucky for me, my kids have all sorts of energy and love to run around in the kids gym while I am there.  I even have them signed up for basketball at the Y in a couple of weeks.  Plenty of opportunity for me to work out while they blow off steam as well.  My 2.5 year old LOVES the nursery time as well.  She gets excited when I ask her if she wants to go to the Y.  Things may be easier for me because I have recently started a really scaled back work schedule....as in maybe 15 hours a month.  My boss couldn't afford to keep me at the office so asked if I could do it all from home.  That worked out for both of us.  A little extra cash for my addication (hee hee) and he gets his marketing done.
