Yeah, i plan to go up in a couple weeks to test out temp & muscles...  And will do that a couple of times, and definitely plan on being in a bit before start on raceday...

Got on a swim at lunch, although I was late, so I didn't do as much as I would have liked...but did about 600 meters (I know that's pretty pathetic, but oh well!!) I did about half freestyle, and had fun!!  I'm getting things down better, and did some 3 count breaths and some 2 count when my lungs got really tired...Did a ton of stretches in the pool, and I did look up the IT band stretches, and they seem to be helping, I think, the knee def feels better today...although, I still can't touch my toes

Do you girls always wear swim caps when you swim?

Yes, always. Otherwise my hair gets in my face. Unless you had a pixy cut or something, I can't imagine swimming without one.

Oh, definitely go get one! The latex ones are pretty cheap. I prefer the silicone ones which are thicker and don't rip on your hair as much, but they're a bit more expensive. Though, aside from swimsuits, swim accessories can be pretty cheap. I know some people like to get the $30 Aquasphere goggles and perhaps those are the only ones that fit their face well. But the ones I like are like $15 a pair, and you can find goggles for even cheaper, depending on what you like.

I have goggles I like, and I have 2 swim caps that I got from Speedo, I don't know what they are made of, but they weren't expensive...I just have never worn them yet!!

The new puppy, Logan is a 14-month old black lab mix (looks pretty much like a lab, though). The other doggies are a 5-year old 100-lb yellow lab named Bailey, and the other is a little beagle-mix named Elias - my parents just adopted him at Christmas; he's probably about a year old (they told us he was a year old when we got him, but there was no way he was that old). All are rescue doggies

That's great!  We have a black lab mix, we got him when he was 4 wks old b/c the mother of the litter rejected the puppies, and I worked with the woman who owned the dad; and we have a black cocker spaniel, who belonged to my husband's cousin, but they lived in DC and decided they didn't want to keep a city dog anymore...and I have been known as of late to be trolling petfinder...don't tell!!!

Yup, that's where Logan came from He and his brothers and sisters were rescued from a shelter downstate, by a group up here. The name he came with was "Maddox", but my sister said she didn't want to sound like crazy Angelina Jolie whose one kid is named Maddox, so she looked through lists of popular baby names and picked out Logan

Subject: MAY Mentee Challenge!

Morning, mentees! It's MAY! A new month! I propose a challenge for this month. There are 31 days in May. I would LOVE to see at least 20 pink/dark pink squares on your calendar. I will play too. If you have a race, that can count as one of the 20. 20 squares can be easily attained with stretching, yoga, a brisk walk, weights, the elliptical, etc, if you don't have time to swim/bike/run. Some of you had a stellar month of April, so let's keep that up! We're getting into the thick of tri-season now - wahoo!

What does 20 squares get you, you ask? Um...the satisfaction of having a good training month? Bragging rights among your fellow mentees? Okay, so there isn't a REAL prize, but it's still fun

So the pink is something other than swim/bike/run?

Lighter pink is swim/bike/run. The darker pink is "sports" or strength stuff.

So we want either of the pink colors and races to equal 20 or more? I'm sorry I'm a little off this morning.

Yes. Obviously, more light pink is preferable, but since some folks seem to have a lot of white squares, I'd be happy with ANY kind of pink

Peach, pink, same thing

Yes, yellow is when you log comments but no workouts. Blue is for health stuff but no workouts. Green is for races. There is now a color key under the calendar that tells you what they mean.
