My local gym offers a WSI program (the Red Cross program) that cost $320 for 8 private lessons. I also contacted the TI instructor you recommended, Thea Skanes in Scotch Plains. She charges $695 for 8 private lessons. Is the TI program really worth the extra cost? |

My local gym offers a WSI program (the Red Cross program) that cost $320 for 8 private lessons. I also contacted the TI instructor you recommended, Thea Skanes in Scotch Plains. She charges $695 for 8 private lessons. Is the TI program really worth the extra cost? She also has another option of $495 for group TI lessons that you should ask her about. I assume she still offers those. Im not sure what the group maximum is. I was with 2 others. Even though there were 3 of us it was as close to private as possible and I got enough personal attention. The only problem (for me) was that its on a fixed day/time for 8 weeks. Due to my travel I have already missed 3, that's close to half. If you can commit to the fixed day/time I would highly recommend this. Even though I'm not done I found it very helpful and significantly better than other lessons I've received. |

New user 57 | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group - CLOSED Finally recovered from last week. Got the bike out on the road for a real ride. It's a heck of a lot more comfortable riding on the road than on the trainer in the basement. I can't wait to start commuting to work (32 mile round trip), it will allow me to get more bike time I should be able slot in an extra swim/run or two. New user 57 | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group - CLOSED The best laid plans. I had the entire winter off from travel. Now they are gearing me up for a project spanning Baton Rouge and Houston. It would have been helpful to have some nice weather in the winter. Just my luck, it comes to me in time for prime biking season. |

Extreme Veteran 444 North Brunswick, NJ | Subject: My weekly summary Hope you all had a pretty good training week and some of the injury's are healing well. I finally got in a long outdoor ride today. The wind was brutal making it really hard to keep a decent pace but I didn't care, IT WASN'T COLD finally. YAY. And of course had a front flat after hitting a series of serious pot holes by railroad tracks. The kind that send shivers up your arms and through your back, really bad. I tried a CO2 cartridge to fill the tube after I changed it, 1st time ever and I will never carry a pump again, these things rock! Northern Ivy - sorry I coudn't join you for the ride today, late night last night. I didn't hit the road until noon. My times for this week: Swim: 3:14:23 6125 yds (1 hr was in T1 class) Bike: 5:59:57 102.4 miles Run: 2:19:37 17.25 miles |

Member 39 Millburn | Subject: RE: Big Steve's Group - CLOSED Got my new bike. It's a Specialized's Secteur Sport Triple. It's really great, but a little intimidating at first. I've never been on a real road bike before. Falling on my 200 yards from my house on my maiden voyage while trying to stop at an intersection - having forgotten my feet were clipped in - was more hysterical than you can imagine. Thankfully none of my neighbors seem to be America's Funnest Home Video aficionados. Rode the bike back to the shop to have it checked out - a minor handle bar adjustment was needed - and decided to upgrade my helmet. I was wearing 15 year old head gear, something Franklin the Turtle would have on, and had little trouble convincing the salesman to sell me a new one. I cruised around for the next hour and started to remember how great riding feels. So long spin class... Swim class starts Thursday. Hopefully it will get me straighten out and moving fast. Hope everyone is doing well. |

I still haven't been out on the road on my Tri bike. I've got over 400 miles on it on the trainer but thats nothing compared to what its like on the road. Congrads and good luck with it! |
