3500 yds in the pool last night then to a 5.5 mile run. Feeling really good!

I'll be pacing a few miles for a fellow BT'er and Donkai buddy in their 100 mile Ultra this weekend. My first time - should be interesting.

Nice 20 mile ride at lunch. Weekend's going to be rough. 2 hour run on Saturday followed by my first race of the year (albeit a sprint) on Sunday. Will try to get an easy ride around the loop after the race.

Training is going good. Did a 20.5 (2hour 41 minute) mile run this morning. Legs are sore right now and I am getting ready to head into work . Monday I will ride 5-6 hours. Next Sunday is my first HIM and I am looking forward to learning from it in a "good" way!

Finished up a solid week of training today with my first OWS of the season this morning and followed that up with a 70 mile bike ride. The wind was brutal, that's 3 Sunday's in a row I've had to deal with 20 to 25 mile hour winds for my long ride. I'm over 17 hours of training for this week.

I take it you're not doing Z2 training with that kind of time.

Last night I was planning on 3000-3500 yards in the pool, when I was informed at the pool that a Masters' swim was going to start in a couple of minutes and just started that night, and will be every Tues. night until August. I finished 800 yards and was a little miffed at that last second bit of information, so I ran 90 laps in the indoor track - 9 miles.
Tonight I'll make up the swim.

That was me that rode by you while coming back from your run on Saturday and said "Hi Phil". In case you were wondering who the heck it was.

Actually it was all Zone 2 my friend...I don't even think I went over my max Z2 of 153 but just a couple times. Otherwise yes it was all Zone 2.

HIM went well. I finished in 4:37:45. Was a good learning experience. Race report is up if anyone cares to read it.

2 hour hilly run last night produced just over 12 miles for the books. Sticks are stiff and sore today, though.

I missed 3 days of training this week as I was in Dallas for training for my job. I have been able to salvage the week though with a swim on Thu, a 12 mile, 2 plus hour run affair on the treadmill no less last night and today a short 90 minute bike and 75 minute run brick. Tomorrow I'll be doing an OWS and then hoping to get at least 3 hours on the bike hitting the hills on the north shore of LI. I'm looking at it as a recovery week since I had two really good weeks prior to this one.

Pretty quiet on here...only 84 more days....mid 70's of training days. The serious training is just in front of us, kind of exciting and daunting at the same time. I always wonder how I'm going to fit it all in but seem to somehow make it work.

Stay healthy and train safe...

Did Horribly Hilly Hundreds - 200k version this weekend with the wife. Tough bike and I really couldn't see myself running a marathon after that bike. Lots of training left and I do think the ride pushed me this weekend. No pain no gain i suppose.

Luckily we don't have to do the HHH course before we run a marathon. The IM course is more through the valleys and you only do 3 or 4 big hills each loop. There is also a couple big hills on the stick.

I also did the HHH 200k this weekend. The cold weather was concerning in the morning, but it warmed up nicely. I got a nice tan.

I think that the HHH 200k is harder than IMoo. The IMoo course is nothing to sneeze at. Especially if it was like last year with 20mph winds. I tried 808s last year and almost got blown off the bike a couple times. That added 20+ minutes to my usual bike time.

Well I'm almost ready for a rest day! Thinking I will make tomorrow a rest day. Did the Quad City triathlon 6 days after my first HIM on Saturday and placed 7th out of almost 700 people! Felt pretty good about that although if I could have went 2.1 seconds faster I would have been first in my AG instead of second! Oh well.

Sunday it was back to work for a day and once home after my 12 hours I did a little over 10 miles in 80 minutes. Yesterday I made my longest ride yet of 89 miles in 5 hours all at zone 2. I wasn't happy with my mph average but the first 35 miles I did was on a new route that had a ton! of hills. Disgusting beautiful hills! All into a headwind that I didn't realize was blowing that hard. It was HOT! I brought three water bottles and had to refill them 2x at a stopping point that I go by. Ran 2 miles off the bike as well at 7:12 pace. Thinking today I am going to head to the bike shop and decide what kind of bottle holders I want to buy for behind the saddle.

Either way happy training folks...it's getting close now!

I'm going to be riding the course for the first time Sunday. Anything I should be weary about? I'm taking a map/smartphone with me to help guide the way. Also starting from firemans park.
