Lots of fish oil, glucosamine, and anti-inflammatories? I suppose rest and time are the two main healers. Not very helpful in this situation . |

Yes, it's in 6 and a half weeks, on the 7th of July. Sorry, Jason, I didn't copy the date in that post and caused confusion! I got the ball rolling this morning with an extra run workout, just a short jog after today's swim. I'm thinking I'll try and keep up with a third run each week, and start to extend the Sunday long run by ten minutes or so every week. I should be running (or run/walking) two hours on a long run by the time race day comes around. The race allows 3 hours to finish the course to make sure the road is clear for the full marathon which is scheduled for after the half. Hopefully I won't get pulled off the course, but if I do, well, it's no drama I guess. I'll do what I can. |

New user 84 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Got back to training today. It wasn't pretty (sweat mixed with snot..yuck!) but got thrown a curve ball to my plans. Upcoming swim class is FULL! Which means I either can take it another day (not really a viable option due to scheduling) or wait until mid-June to start. Drats... |

Sorry she's still not 100%...Originally posted by Hunting Triathlete Corbet, thanks for the post, I was beginning to worry about you. I believe that your Trinity is also calling for some attention. Wife all healed up? wife is better than she was... She still feels fluid in her ears especially while trying to sleep and she is still in some pain. the specialist say she has some hearing loss tray could be permanent. She is to go back 6 mo.the from now to retest. Hoping for a good ride on wed weather permitting. Im actually going to try and ride the actual race course! They are calling for 70% chance of scattered t storms. |

Doc thinks I hurt the cartilage in the knee. This sucks, I'm suppose to be training for the national championships in September not sitting on my recliner getting fatter by the minute. Not that you will, but a few days fatter always beats a surgery and months to get out of shape. Hopefully it all heals up quickly and you are able to get back at it. |

Dawn, if you really want to wait to start swimming when a class starts then just sign up for the one mid-June. Your tri is mid-August so that would give you basically two full months of swim classes and swim training. I would say that between now and swim class to get your bike and run fitness up, that way you can continue & add the swim training when it starts. |

Member 45 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED So finally after a few weeks of swimming (and two lessons) I was able to complete day one of the 0to1650 program (+ about 450 yards of various lengths 50 / 100 yards). Strangely enough it was also the first day my 910xt was fairly accurate with stroke / length detection. I have two more swims scheduled this week (plus another lesson), which should hopefully *fingers crossed* see me through week one of the program. Swimming really is an alien activity for me...still amazes me how much different it is from the other sports. I feel like you can "muscle" your way through a run or bike ride, while swimming affords no such avenue. You must apply *some* technique if you want to not drown. :D This past month has instilled in me a great respect for swimming and swimmers in general - it truly is an art form. |

Congrats on completing your first day of 0 to 1650. I am looking into doing that once I can actually swim 200 yards without stopping, or drowning. Way to go! |

It does get easier - albeit not a ton and not overnight but it gets easier. My first few trips to the pool it was all I could do to swim 25 yards without sinking. Then 50 yards became the new 25, and now 100 is becoming the new 50...baby steps baby steps. |

I may try and haggle a bit when I get there with the cash. He told me it was bought by a family member who no longer rides. The picture he sent still has the tags on the wheel quick release, but that doesn't mean much. I am going to go back to one of the larger LBS because they are having a Memorial Day sale this week. I want to see what they have on sale before I pull the trigger on this bike. |

Member 45 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED I so *need* a road bike! I bought a new mountain bike at the start of the season before I decided to start this multi-sport focus. Hard to justify to the powers that be that I should spend another wad of cash on another new bike. I keep telling myself that I am getting more of a workout using the mtn bike at this point and when I end up making the jump to a road/tt bike I will be that much faster! Goes back to oogling road bikes online.... |

Extreme Veteran 1574 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Yep, it is tough. To buy my Tri bike I just continued to put away a hundred here and there until I started to get close to what I figured I would need and then started pricing and looking at LBS. I realized that I would need more and started to save some more, but found my girl and had enough money to purchase her. |

Sitting here with my knee v wrapped and elevated I'm so jealous of those out there training. to those who are starting your swim program hang in there, it will get better. And your right, you may be able to "muscle through" the bike and run there is no faking the swim. That part is about technique and fitness. I'm looking forward to next Tuesday when I'll be clear to rejoin my fellow turtles in training. |
