I decided to try to just follow one of the work out plans that's online here at BT. Here my plan for the week.

Mon: 30 min run
Tue: 30-60 min swim and 60 min bike
Wed: 40 min run
Thu: 50 min swim
Fri: off
Sat: 50 min run
Sun: 100 min bike

Total Minimum: 360min (6Hrs)

We'll see how this goes. I'd also like to maybe throw some weight lifting in there. Also, I might be forced to take one of those days off and reschedule a workout. My schedule can get packed fast, so I might need to adapt. I just want to get into planing now and not just going with the flow.

Good luck with the plan - which one are you following?  I've definitely found that using a plan has helped my discipline to train.

I'm using the run centered plan. My running sucks, so I need more time on it. I may end up walking some of it early on since I'm easing into it and trying not to push through non-exercise pain (shin and foot aching, that's how I got into problems before). We'll see how it goes. I'm actually just about to leave for my swim.

I'll be away for 2 weeks. I'm leaving for Egypt tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get to really train once I get back. I have to, I signed up for an Olympic tri yesterday, if not I'm out $110.

Good luck with everyone's races and training.

Bring us back some sand!  Plus you get a chance to run up the pyramids and swim the nile.  Tons of training there.  Maybe you can even convince a rickshaw driver to let you pedal and you're good to go.

Be safe and have fun.

I just joined USAT tonight. The cost was $39 for a 1 year membership. I joined after looking at my planned races and realizing they all required membership (yearly/race day). Was my assumption right?

That's correct.  Each sanctioned race requires either a $10 race day or yearly USAT membership.  So, mathmatically, if you do 4 races, it's better to have a membership.  Plus you get ranked after 2 races.  And you get a cool sticker.  But I like stickers.

I've been thinking about joining.  The price must have gone up though, cause I think it used to be $30.  I payed the one day fee for my race next month, but I noticed on the USAT website that you can subtract that from the yearly fee if you attach the receipt.

That's right.  It's kinda like not having to double pay/an incentive.

I always carry a patch kit with me.  I've gotten lots of puncture flats, but it's been years since I've gotten a pinch flat.  If you keep your air pressure high enough, you probably won't get a pinch flat.  Thankfully, I've never had a bad enough hole in the intertube that the patch kit wasn't able to handle it(both pinch and puncture).  If you've got room though, I guess it wouldn't hurt to carry an extra intertube.

I don't have a patch kit yet, but I definitely plan on getting one. Sunday I was riding back to Stillwater from a ride and I got a flat about 8 miles from my dorm. I would have had to walk it had someone not picked me up. That really would have sucked. A patch kit is a must.

I am back!  I hope everyone was productive while I was away!

Thanks, Dan, for filling in for me!

I always have a spare tube with me.  I carry a tube and a mini-CO2 tank underneath my seat.  I patch the tubes when I get home.  Its quicker that way.

And while I was in Chicago, I decided to welcome 2 new additions to the family... they're TWINS!

Subject: Puppies!

If you have a minute, check out my album called Puppies.  My wife and I decided to buy two Bichon Frise puppies from our neighbors - not exactly Labs, but our daughters love them.  We've watched these dogs grow from 2 days old to 6 weeks - amazing!

Any ideas for names?  We plan on changing the names that I have shown.

I love puppies!  They are sooooo cute!  Naming them is always the hardest part.... I'll have to get back to you on that one.
