Regular 1358 Jenison, MI | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? Thursday - #508 - 4 miles followed by an hour on the bike Friday - #509 - 4 miles. Got to the gym early, the basketball court was wide open, so I spent 30 minutes shooting around for the first time in multiple years. Had no idea that this would make me sore for the next 2 days! lol Then went home and biked for an hour again. Saturday - #510 - 2 miles after a 1 hour bike session Sunday - #511 - 2 miles after a pretty tough 1 hour bike |

1439 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? I wrapped up my racing season yesterday with the First Day Of Winter 50k in Portsmouth, Ohio. I did well considering my weekly mileage for the past couple of months has only been in the mid 30's at best with only one week in the 40 mpw range. I finished in 4:53 which was good enough for 9th place overall out of I think 54 finishers and 1st in my age group. I think I may get back to streaking after the first of the year. I feel pretty good today after the run, only good pain no injury type pain. Merry Christmas everyone and keep up the great work. |

Last Feb you did the 100/skydive right? Anyhow, I H\hope to see you up to your antics next year. Keeps me motivated. |

You are making me jealous with all the biking you've been managing. My bike is in the garage, and I noticed some dust on it. I have to get it up on the trainer. It was pretty sad seeing it like that. |

1053 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. #792- 6.2 mi #793- 8 mi #794- 5 mi #795- 4 mi (was going to be an quick 2 mi to spend as much time with the family as possible, but I got an awesome headlamp and had to go out at night and play with my new toy (Petzl Tikka RXP) I want to see what the battery life turns out to be, but so far its great. #796- 2 mi- so I made it through this run. My kids got Razor scooters as Christmas presents, and what started out as "daddy showing off" ended with alot of "daddy are you ok"s. I landed on the back of my shoulder pretty hard trying to do a classic "tuck and roll" maneuver when bailing after trying to do a trick off the end of the curb near my driveway. I am ALOT more bony than I used to be (that and I am just getting old), and there was NO cushioning when I hit the pavement. I can lift my arm again today, so I will survive. #797- 4 mi with the headlamp again. |

1053 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? #798- 6.5 miles. Picked up a pair of trail shoes today and took them for a spin. Sort of "pre-training." I did the trails in my local park, and did a bit of trailblazing as well, trying to find good spots with steep sections and with some technical spots. Got a good workout, and was lots of fun. It was one of those "I'm glad I'm a runner" days. Weather was perfect too. |

Took Brewer for a short walk in the evening, but no way able to run. Took a couple more days off just to rest up and I am back at day #3. |

I can say without a doubt that I wouldn't be running nearly as well as I have been if I haven't stuck with this streak. There have been plenty of days where I've put in solid runs where I probably wouldn't have went out at all. |

1053 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? Happy new year. Nice to see the group has grown a bit, and congrats on everyone's 2014 accomplishments. I had a good year, and am hoping this one goes well. #799- 6.2 mi #800- 4 mi #801- 2 quick miles on the treadmill #802- 10 mi all trail, 1500 ft elevation gain according to Garmin. I always feel that I run farther than the Garmin reads when I run trails, especially if the trail is windy, and intuitively I feel that the GPS cant keep track of all of my zigs and zags from space. Another 2 weeks or so and I will find out if I get into Leadville, and I got my fingers crossed since for some reason, I really want to run this race. I had planned to take the weeks easy since my last race up to the new year then start training for whatever 100 I get myself into. I can't believe the new year is here, that went fast. I felt like I had to start the year off on the right foot (no pun intended) and get a solid training run in. The ground was frozen today, which is good and bad. I don't have to deal with the mucky spots, but the ruts in the trail under a nice bed of leaves create "ankle snappers." I am pretty familiar with the trails though, so I get by ok, I really just need to keep my wits about me. I also am still doing a bit of trailblazing to work in some more challenges and had to deal with some pretty harsh razor-like underbrush. I still had a blast though. I feel like a kid tromping through the woods. |

If it zig zags the Garmin will smooth it to a straight line and you will always show less mileage on the Garmin than you actually run. I hope you get into Leadville if not there is a 100 miler in Montana that'll either be the last weekend in September or the first weekend in October, they have not set the date yet. I am planning on running that one this year maybe you could join me on the trail. It is in the Yellowstone Teton race, cool buckle for finishing too. |

1439 | Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us? Day 6 today, 3.3 miles. I will start a 15 week training schedule on Monday shooting for a sub 3:20 marathon on the 19th of April at the Athens Marathon in Athens, Ohio. I have not followed a training schedule for over two years due to racing all the time. I want to concentrate on getting faster at least the first part of the year. I want a sub 1:35 half this year too, I am signed up for one on the 30th of May. I may not getting the sub 1:35 there, it depends on my work schedule. If it changes I am going to 3 days at the fair in New Jersey in the middle of May. I will do the 72 hour event hoping to complete at least 240 miles in 72 hours. |
