Bike loop was looking good out there today.  Good weather, too!

Bet it wasn't as fun without me! I wish I could have been there!

You would have enjoyed the crash I had to avoid a stopped Skavoovie.

As opposed to the hazardous tip over accidents you've been prone to?

Wasn't.  Just coming over the incline going slow, thought he yelled "CLEAR", I turned around and yelled clear, hear "NO CLEAR", he's right in front of me, and I hit the brakes going only about 2 mph or so, couldn't unclip, back wheel comes up, then I fall over to the side.  SPECTACULAR!   See, I can laugh about it.

We are staying at the Double Tree, 1/2 mile from the Terrace, on the IM rate. They are booked but keep bugging them as rooms become available between now and the 1 month cut off date. You might have to stay at some of the places south of the lake, check out the IMOO site hotel list.

I'm staying there too... have you stayed there before for IM?  Do they do anything special for race morning like an early breakfast or shuttles for the guests?

We stayed there last year for IMoo. I don't think they have any thing special for race morning breakfast, but I never asked. I don't know if they have a shuttle either, last year all of my family enjoyed the walk through town.

They do bend over backwards for IMers and give you a sheet to put your bike on. They have a good breakfast buffet and last years kids were free.

64 days! How is everyone feeling? I logged my biggest month of training in June, including my Madison trip, so it was fun. July has been a little slow, but I have an HIM tomorrow so that will help. Hope everyone's training is going well!

Once again I am feeling down in the dumps.  With everyday responsibilitys I am not able to get the training in that I want and need to feel that I am ready for Imoo.  It appears it is going to be another long day out on the course if I can't turn this month around and start logging some long workouts.

2009 totals
Bike:85h 24m 22s  - 1429.4 Mi
Run:57h 03m 02s  - 415.48 Mi
Swim:17h 37m 03s  - 48757.36 M
Strength:1h 32m
Core Training:6h 22m
Snow Shoveling:1h 00m
Stretching:55m
Walking:7h 20m
Yard Work:6h 00m

These numbers are not going to cut it.  But still ahead of my numbers from last year when I STRUGGLED to an 13:04 IMoo finish last year.  Don't get me wrong now.  Finishing is the number one goal for me at any time.  But I was really looking to break 12 hours this year.  In 06 I was 14:36 in 08 13:04.  I have brought my times down and just want more.  I want to think that finishing this year will be more enjoyable due to the fact that I have been threw so much in my personal life.  Thank goodness for April (my girlfriend) my brother Mike (Ironguiness) and all of you.

Hang in there Bob. I've had a rough time personally as well (as I think I've shared with you) so in the beginning of the year I could barely get out of bed let alone go out and train so I got off to a late start. I also had a 6-month bike deficit from my crash so my bike fitness has been a tremendous struggle. You'll get there, and I'm sure you'll do great and enjoy the day, that's all that matters. But if it makes you feel any better, I've been training really hard (or so I thought) and your numbers are just a teeny bit behind mine, so if your training isn't cutting it, mine isn't either!

My numbers are like yours guess I will stunk? But how many actually do it and finish? I was 14:30 something last year and would be happy with 13 something this year! Go for quality if you get quantity!

I don't mean to offend anyone with saying my numbers are low and that means I will do bad or that someone with similiar workout numbers will do bad.  There is no such thing as doing bad if you finish an Ironman.  No matter how long it takes you.   I have always said that finishing is winning and the number one goal.  I just put so much pressure on myself that even If i had professional workout numbers I would not be satisfied.   So Montyzooma please don't take my crabbyness as an insult.  Never ment it to say anyone will stink.  It's having Bt'ers like you that keep me going. Juggling kid/babysitter schedules......we're flying in Thursday, landing early afternoon.  Flying out mid-afternoon Monday.  Should be able to see the roll-down.  Cool  We're staying at the Edgewater.  Anyone else ever stay there?

It's a pretty good haul.  I would say 400 yards or so.  The thing is the last half of it is up a spiral parking garage.  Goes by very quickly though because of the thousands of spectators cheering you on.

Take a look at this video that was done during our IM WI mini-camp last  year.  It has some good footage of the swim exit, helix, path to T1 and bike racks

edit to add more detail....

Take a look at this video that was done during our IM WI mini-camp last  year.  It has some good footage of the swim exit, helix (spiral car path up to various parking levels), path to T1 changing areas inside, and the bike racks.  You'll feel like a rockstar with all of the hundreds of spectators lined up starting from the swim exit and then cheering you on the entire way up the helix to the T area.  When I'm showing the bike rack area in the video I'll mention an "exit helix"...that helix is at the far end of the parking area that I show...its quite a jog down the parking area to the bike mount area.  Then on the bike return you go back up that helix to the dismount area and then you go inside again to the T2 changing area.  I show the run start area on the video as well.   Good luck

The Edgewater isn't bad.  I stayed there a few years ago - I think they were talking of renevating the rooms back then.  It's know for it's location (overlooking Lake Monona) but the rooms were fine.

If it's your first time to Madison, make sure you get out and enjoy it a little bit.  There's a football game on Saturday which is going to make downtown packed but there's plenty to see and do.  I think the farmer's market is on Sat morning - it's worth heading up to the Capitol for a look to start your day.

I love the farmers market, it is on Saturday. And Cafe Soleil right on the square, below L'Etoile (which I also love), has the best croissants I've ever had and this chocolate cookie sprinkled with sea salt called the sand cookie. I went nearly every day when I was there for training. Yum.

I'm getting pretty excited, I wish it were sooner!

Thanks for the info on the farmer's market. That will make my family happy. We're driving and will get there Wednesday and I am flying back for work early Monday morning. I'll be doing everything in my power to upgrade on that return flight!
