Well I just had a bagel sandwich cause I was famished after practice...today was anaerobic threshold...aka...bonkfest...

But it was only 3000m! haha...50,100,150 All Out=PAIN!!! Haha

But I'm done swimming for this week! Wooo! Recovery time from swimming...now got a couple runs to get through!

Funny story: so pretty much all the people who are coaching me in swimming are people that I actually swam with back in the day...haha...they make fun of me and my pain that I'm going through trying to get back...But apparently I "still got the goods"-->I totally made fun of him for that statement...haha

givemashot - 2010-01-07 10:54 AM Does anyone have a recommendation for insoles for my day-to-day shoes? I am having some plantar pain since I started wearing this new pair of keens, and I want to prevent it from becoming full-blown PF. I have a history with shin splints, over pronate when I run, but have always loved the convenience of slip-on shoes. Would superfeet be overkill for these shoes? Should I go use the Dr Scholl's thing at the store to see what it recommends?

I have no knowledge of superfeet.

I did use the Dr. Scholl's thing at the store and bought the insoles they recommended, my PT said they weren't very supportive though and I ended up getting custom made orthotics.

I'm not sure how they'd work with slip-on shoes. Are you talking clogs, that have no back to them or a loafer type shoe?

Loafer-type shoe. But with more of an REI look to them than a penny loafer look.

I love our village. Not to repeat what others have already said, but I find it so amazing, and so comforting, to know that when/if any of us ever have ca-ca going on, we have the Village of Gouhl to lean on. I *heart* our village.

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-07 2:49 PM Alright Ghoulies just got some news on the homefront.

My mother who has been a smoker and drinker forever is having fluid build up (heart failure most likely).  They are running tests to see if she can handle surgery - if not she goes into Hospice.  No timeframe yet but we should know something tonight.

Appreciate good thoughts and prayers that she is comfortable, finds peace, and that travel is easily arranged if she passes.  I don't feel like driving to Denver after just driving to Florida.

Thanks Ghoulies!

Sorry to hear this Bill.

My thoughts are with your family.

kcarroll - 2010-01-07 8:59 PM Evening Ghoulies.  Just getting back from the city and catching up on the day's posts.  Whew.  Some tough times in the village.

Stacie - Spend time with the family.  You will never regret those minutes/hours/days. Bill will summarize the 132 pages you will miss over the weekend.

Tom - Sending good employment vibes your way.  The fact that you are geographically flexible works strongly in your favor.  Staying close to family is good.

Ann - Get well. Get well. Get well.  I sent you a text, but you must not have had your phone. Cool

Bill - So sorry to hear about your mom.  Healing vibes on the way to Colorado.

Robin, Dee, Katie and Neal - Great job keeping the support system going.  When you need it, we'll all be there.

Amy - Hope the feet are better soon.  I'm a PF vet, so we can have a girlfriend chatfest on that anytime.

Melissa - please send me some of your swim mojo.  please.  pretty please.

Sorry if I missed anything or anyone.

NICE!

I think with a loafer type you'd be able to put the Dr. Scholl's insert in. As long as there is some back to the show to keep it int I don't see a problem. If it were me I'd go and let the Dr. Scholl's machine help me determine which insert is best.

That looks like a good plan.  I would go closer to nine rather than 11 on Sunday.

Glad to hear that you are continuing to feel better.  Looks like things are clearing out just in time for your race!

Thanks Neal.

My longest run to date has been just over 9 miles, and that was almost 2 weeks ago. I'll be satisfied if I can go 9 on Sunday.

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-08 8:43 AM Morning Ghoulies.

Talked to the family last night and the doctors are going to attempt the surgery on Monday because without it she would pass rapidly.  They don't know if she will make the surgery but it is a better option.

They are going to put a pig valve in her and hopefully that carries her for a while.

I feel bad for my sister because she is the only one local and has to deal with it all.  So if you could keep her in your thoughts and prayers she and I would appreciate it.  I get the 1600 mile excuse a lot of time but am contemplating obtaining a ticket home Sunday for a couple of days just in case.

Anyone have any airline connections

Thanks again guys!

Bill, so sorry about your mom and will definitely keep both she and your sister in my prayers.  One thought about the plane ticket....it wouldn't hurt contacting the airline directly and seeing if they are willing to offer you a special fare.

Cotton or wicking?  I would be in for a wicking one but I have so many cotton t-shirts and plus I cannot run so you could do a cheerleader one for me!

Wicking!!!

You are still a Ghoulie. All races need volunteers for course support, they get the shirts, too.

Katie that does not even sound like fun - I had to drive in the snow (I guess they forgot it was going to snow in Buffalo in the winter - Amazing huh?) but only for 8 hours.

12 hours on a Friday should be illegal!

I belive this falls into the cruel and unusual punishment category.
