Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, ab work sucks! But I did it any way. Just a thought when I done working my ab and I stretch, say to run, if my ab muscles cramp and I don't streatch it out does that count as one long situp? Someday WHEN, not if, I get rid of all this fat I'm going to have awesome abs! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() retiretotri - 2009-01-08 7:04 PM Tammy- This is what I got for zones from my coach, seem a little low but maybe not (used resting HR, age, and something else)? Don't have a 5K time to use. Can something else be substituted? Running Zones:
Biking Zones:
Either a 45 minute technique workout on the trainer or a longer ride? Haven't decided yet. welll using your berbee derby 10K..it was 54:40- right... I can get your paces.... cant get HR data though.....they are Z1 11:29+ they had data for 54 minutes or 55 minutes so you may be able to knock the paces down 3-5 seconds |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok Terri- your LT from your test today was 161 so your HR zones are Z1 106- 136 |

Got a combo-clava today to keep my face warm when I run so I'll have to try the double work out tomorrow. Like we used to say in the Navy the physical fitness test isn't over until the fat boy hurls ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Those look pretty darn good. Thanks! Now if I could only pace myself running outside like I can on the TM. I am all over the place with my pacing during races. I hope to get even a little faster running prior to the Shamrock Shuffle 10K. So, what is this darn push up thing? Do I try to do as many man push ups as I can in a minute or is there no time limit? Is everyone going to try the push up challenge? |

New user ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today was my resting day. I took my boys out for some playtime, then I just chilled. I JUST did my initial test for the 100 pushup challenge. I actually squeaked out 20 REAL pushups!! My husband witnessed the whole thing! He told me that "3 years ago I probably couldn't even do 4 pushups". I take that as a compliment! Tomorrow is my BodyJam class (dance) then training with the crazyperson. I think we're doing back and abs. ~jennifer |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Does this plan sound ok? This week I ran/walked a mile on Monday; ran a mile on Wednesday, first day of hundred pushups; Friday I'm planning on running another mile and again on Saturday. Off day/pushups day three on Sunday. Keep those same days scheduled but on either Wednesday or Friday run 1.5 miles. Then add .5 miles to another day the following week and keep this up until I have four days of 1.5 miles. I would then add distance to another day and start the whole thing over again gradually building up my distances. Keep in mind my main goal is to remain injury free, and at my weight I'm prone to them. If this is the wrong way of going about building my distance what would be the right way? |

SO you are running 4 days a week and the other 2 are strength training? Yeah I think that sounds pretty good.... you may find eventually you will be able to increase the run bu more then .5 miles. which is a GOOD thing! Jump on the bike if you get bored of runnning or want a little more. |

If this is the wrong way of going about building my distance what would be the right way? If you want to be injury free - you need to avoid impact sports - I would say do the biking and swimming until you've lost a bit then you can start pounding the joints. (But I seem to be a rare breed - I love the swimming!) Am I the only one that's totally inspired by George's efforts? - go big guy - you're doing a great job! |
