kns57 - 2008-01-01 7:24 PM Nothing on TV tonight. Guess I'll go and read a book. LOL a librarian reading a book. Imagine that.

BTW,what's the book?

I'm reading two at the moment. One is The Binding Chair by kathryn Harrison. The second is a Gossip Girl that I am reading because it is being challenged.

Challenged as in "library book of the month" or challenged as in "public/media skeptical"?

I like reading those that are made skeptical by the public... my favorite was Into Thin Air vs (oh I can't remember the one told for Anatoli Boukreiv (sp?) by the old Arizona author (who has since died I think) - yes I can remember that, but not the title)  It's one of those that you MUST read both.

The second, but it is actually not quite that bad. I am on the committee for the high school in my library area, and it has been "challenged" by a teacher, not a parent. The committee looks at items before they go into the collection to determine if it will be okay. So, one of the teachers flagged this book as a possible problem and another of the Gossip Girl books too. I read the other, am reading this one and boy am I glad I'm not in High School with the girls in the book. Boring.

Yeah, must agree... most of my staff are under the age of 18... glad I've been there and done that and don't have to go back

I don't remember there being scandals on books when I was in school.   I do remember reading Rebecca and then watching the movie ,  that's when I first learned that books are MUCH better than their movie counterparts.

I'm thinking that maybe if my budget monitoring sheets looked so pretty I might be more inclined to keep up with them... oh well, that's why I got an asst. for the new year, so he can do them.  LOL

Yeah, movies rarely do the book justice. Books have been challenged for years, just when you are in school, you usually don't hear about the challenges. Now a days sometimes I think the publisher starts a challenge to get publicity on a book.

Well Nibbs... should go spend time with hubby and kids.  Tomorrow's back to the regular grime of work, yth basketball, working out, and skiing to come.  Glad I got all the Christmas decorations put away today.  Think I'll throw out all the sweets not eaten with the trash in the morning.

Night Night... and one last time HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!  May it be a prosperous one  #1 Trophy

Beth, I don't think the chart is working. I link to you and Hector but not to anyone else on your team. Do you think you got their addresses right? I think you will need Dee to take a look at it.
