D001 - 2008-08-15 9:43 AM I am tired. I stayed up late last night watching swimming and gymnastics. I will be tired tomorrow, too. Because I plan on staying up late again to watch more swimming and gymnastics.

The amount of swimming being shown on tv here... you would think the Olympics is a swim meet!

They show BITS of swimming, usually starting around 10 PM (EDT). I wish they'd show more of it though. (And less of the sports that I don't really care about.... And fewer commercials, too.)

Oh its bits here too... Im really annoyed becuase I know the track cycling starts today and Im not sure I am going to see much of it

we get to see Michael Phelps, everything with an Aussie in and sometime something where a world record or similar gets smashed!

If an Aussies wins a gold medal they replay the race every 1-2 hours... often INCLUDING the medal ceremony and anthem!

I did get to see the Chinese weight lifter break a world medal they cut into that, Ive seen a bit of rowing (Aussies) and umm... basketball.. they showed a bit of the USA game, a bit of hockey.

So we're not the only ones with less-than-stellar coverage, it seems....

well yeah... I think if you are intersted in a specific sport... or arent Australian the coverage can be frustrating here...

Our network had full coverage of the road racing and time trials which I was REALLY happy about... and a lot of the team sports like football (soccer), volleyball etc we are playing full matches.

But it is determined by what the main broadcaster wants for themselves too... so we havent got track cycling in full on our network which means Im relying on the main channel (a different network) which is trying to show EVERYTHING with a focus on the Aussies live AND will replay 'key moments' from other events (like I saw a Chinese girl setting a world record in weight lifting) but its not seriously live (not that you can show ALL sports live)

But... I think the average Aussie with no specific interest in any of the sports wouldnt be too unhappy with the coverage...

So I read the FIRST sentence, and thought, "Wow, that would be really cool!" And I started packing.

Then I read the SECOND sentence, and said, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" And then I started UNpacking.

I assume that's what they're doing here too.

Of course, they show anything involving women in skimpy outfits. (Too bad the swimmers are wearing MORE these days. It's decreased the chances they'll have TV time.)

No, basic bw on scratch paper....  I think that it's just such a large document on such and OLD printer... sometimes when I try to print fliers I create in publisher, the memory is so small that it will print some images on one piece of paper and others on another... so that I have one flier with different parts of it spread out over two pages... CRAZY!!!!

Yeah, see... I think of it like this:

Pam will see me swim.
Pam will take pity on me, as I struggle along in the pool.
Pam will tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Pam will tell me MORE of what I'm doing wrong.
Pam will repeat this process, many times.
And then someday, my swimming will finally improve.

Hm. I should probably ask how much she charges for lessons....

I DO like to swim.

But I'm getting tired of having my shoulder yell at me every time I do.

(I'm SURE it's a technique issue. I just wish I could figure out what I'm doing wrong.)

I've been out of the pool since, um.... well, for a long time. And my shoulder is just starting to feel better now.

I don't actually need a "beginner" class. I need someone who can do stroke evaluation.

Heh, do you think one of those good-looking Olympic swimmers (male) would help me? They'll have some down-time in a few weeks.
