Bottom Line, if it was easy everybody would do it.

No kidding.  I lost a lot of weight over the summer and fall because I started running regularly and was pretty brutal with myself about what I ate.  I wasn't starving myself but I would had an internal debate about how hungry I really was.  I would do things like get only half a sandwich and try to have a small snack later.  Now that I've lost weight I've fallen back to some of my old habits.  First it was getting a whole sandwich, then it was a fulll sandwich and chips.  As a result my weight loss has stalled.  I need to get the discipline back to decide whether I really should have something or not.  And then when I do make better choices then I have been making over the last month.

Other than that I try to make sure the exercise calories removed are greater than the food craving calories in.
Are you counting calories or do you just try to ball park it?  I've stalled out around 210 but would like to get to 190.  I tried cutting back and felt that I wasn't consuming enough calories to keep up with my exercise.  I dropped a few pounds but was just tired all the time and couldn't get through my workouts.  I've started eating more and my works are going much better but I've fallen in to the trap of eating crap instead of getting good calories.

I ballpark it.  When I was losing I ate a lot of salads.  Now I eat a lot of stuff - crap and everything else.  I just burn enough to keep it off.

I need to eat better.  I would like to lose a few before next weekend.

I was doing the same thing but as I started to up running volume I was feeling really weak so I started to lay off the salads.  Maybe I should go back and give them another try.

After 14 months, my ankle was good enough to run non-stop 3.25 miles this morning (still feels good).  Only 5.6 mph avg, but eh.  I did it.  Then I swam a 500 in 11 minutes.

Immediately before this, I rode the bike for just over 16 miles (with a break in the middle for working 14hrs).

I feel amazing.   Slow, but amazing.  I actually ran more than 5k.  I didn't even hate the run like usual.  Upon finishing, to my surprise, I wasn't out of breath nor did I have tired legs.  Maybe I'm getting better at this.

Good job.  I'm jealous because I'll be shoveling snow instead of running this weekend!

By the way, I picked up my new wheels at the lbs today, went home and put my slicks on them.  The rims are Mavic open something something, front hub tiagra, rear xt.  I added a new cassette so I can swap quickly between these and my studded tires.

On the way to work with one pannier, I averaged 18.6 mph.  I was just screaming.  Those wheels spin up very well (at least for a beginner and compared to the stock wheels).

Tomorrow is sleep, then rock wall gym and swimming.

Have a good snowy weekend back East and be safe.

Gotta tell ya, tomorrow I'm forgetting all about the diet. Gonna drink lots of beer and eat a ton of crap! I'll take some pics to share with tha group.

BTW, tired of seeing our Group on page 2 of the mentors section. Lets get a little more conversation going on!

I'm jealous.  My brother is there (Saints fan, of course).

I have been a Saints fan since I can remember.  I was at the Saints-Detroit game where Dempsey hit his 63 yarder. To say I am a big fan is a slight understatement.  This is probably their only chance in my lifetime, so I hope they make the most of it.

Got in a 32 mile ride this morning.  Would have been more but I was out of mid ride snack stuff, so I headed home for breakfast.  Oh heck, who am I kidding.  I wanted to go home.  Two hours was enough.  Avg over 15 mph on the hybrid with a saddlebag of emergency and weather gear.

Coming up.  Non-stop relaxation (and coffee).

Chilly this morning.  Did Clay's loop on sand and hard packed dirt.  I got chased by a bull at mile 9.  I was on country dirt road and the bull I guess got out of the pasture.  It would not move off the road and chased me.  I was able to run up a steep hill and he gave up.  Funny now but not so much when I was out there.  This is a very disserted road a lot of triathletes train on but today I saw one runner at the end of my 13 miles.    Made the run very interesting.  I was a little stiff in the first couple of miles but loosened up and finished 13 mile run.

I'd love to get chased by a bull.  That would mean I'm actually out running!  We're trying to get unearthed from the 2+ feet for snow right now and that is making it difficult to get my scheduled 20 mile run in.  I just helped some neighbors dig out the SUV that to stuck in the snow and was blocking the road.  Hopefully the county can come plow now.

Glad your okay.

I've never been chased while running.  I run mostly on my dad's farm so it will happen one day, that's why I carry heat.  I do get chased by a dog probably 1 out of every 3 rides.  I just count it as VO max intervals.

So the weather has thrown another challenge at me.  They've finally plowed my street so I should be able to get out for my run tomorrow.   Problem is pretty obvious... the Super Bowl is tonight and (prior to being plowed out) we invited some of our snow bound neighbors over.  Despite best efforts I'm sure I'll drink more than I want and eat a bunch of crap.  I have a small window of opportunity to get my long run in this week tomorrow and then I'll be on travel the rest of the week.   Seems like the best think to do is just go for it in the morning.  Worst case I get a longish run in, best case I cover the miles I'm supposed.  Thoughts?

Quite a brave man.  Chased by a bull and your time stayed pretty even.  Wow.

I almost got bit by a pit bull while riding my bike the other day.  I sped up for a few seconds.  He quit.  Had to wash my bike shorts immediately.

Nice run though.

Pepper spray!  I sprayed two different dogs this past season, one was a PitBull.

It's those Collie breeds you need to be careful with, sprinting high 30's is like a jog for them.

Not a great run but not a bad one either considering the circumstance -- yet another long run in the snow!

I ran multiple out and back segments.  The first being about 5.5 miles round trip which I did three laps then finished with part of this which was about 3.75 for a grand total of 20.25.

Hills were brutal, expecially between Hollenberry and White Rock (main leg of the out and back).  Had to slow down going down hill at first then to keep from slipping but by by the end I was slipping so bad coming up that I had to walk at times just to keep my footing.  Averaging about 8:45 for the first half then started to tapper off.  Overall I'm happy and trying to focus on the postive (that is covering the distance).

2 days later, and I'm still a little hungover. Managed a 1 hour trainer ride this morning and gonna try and get a swim in this afternoon. Superbowl was amazing. What a game. Seats were awesome. Gonna try and share a few pics. Got a great shot of my buddy Joel with Chris Brown. He was right in front of us. I'm the guy with sunglasses on croakies. The older guy is my Uncle Shep. He's 70 and still parties like a rock star. I can't keep up with him. Back to reality now, work is brutal!

Awesome Pics and even better seats.

Did Chris smack around any women while he was there.

Question on the last pic.  Why is there a couple ton AC unit on the sideline?

Man I wish I would have been there for the Super Bowl.  Being a Louisiana native and around for the years the fans had sacks over their heads, it is great to see the team win.  My brother still lives in Baton Rouge and said the state was going crazy for the team.  They did a parade in New Orleans yesterday(Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday and it fit in well.)  They are looking to see if the team would do other parades in the Northern Part of the State as well.  I

It looks like you had great time.  My daughter in Raleigh tells me it is miserable weather so I know you enjoyed the weather in Miami.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Great run this morning.  Felt really good and pushed hard the whole 8 miles.  I am going to try to keep from letting up at the end of these training runs in hopes that it helps me get over that 8-9 mile mental issue that is affecting my half marathon times.

How was everyone's training last week?  It was my biggest run week in awhile.  This week is swim focus and resting the legs a bit for a half mary.  Hoping to get in 14,000 to 15,000 yards swimming and a 1:30-1:32 half mary.
