Champion 7931 Sequim, Washington | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread mchally - 2010-05-19 5:19 PM Hey folks. I've been lurking the last couple of weeks...kind of keeping tabs, but feeling antisocial. I guess that my frankentribike is ridable...it just is uncomfortable to do major miles and, as a commuter, aerobars with bar end shifters just aren't practical. My bike is really screwed up...the crank, cassette, chain...I don't know what all, but it doesn't like to stay in gear and when I look down at the crank/rings it looks like it is wobbling back and forth...it is warped or something. When I go up hills or do anything with a good bit of power behind it it slips out of gear and then makes yucky crunching... The bike is 16 years old and has the original crank, bottom bracket, chain rings and cassette so it is probably due for a bit of work. Unfortunately I was hoping to do more biking this month. My other bike has to be reworked too. I had been experimenting with the built...I converted it into a Franken-tribike. The reach is a bit too far for me though. |

I keep falling behind on the thread... Silly work getting in the way of my BT time!! Luckily, I haven't been falling too far behind on my workouts! I'm right where I should be for my bike, run, and yoga/strength goals... I'm actually pretty sure I will get at least 100% on all of those by the end of the month. Which means I need to start heading to the pool more often! Blech! Why oh why do I keep procrastinating swimming?? Swimming is b-o-r-i-n-g! You have all that time to think when you're running and biking. By the time we get to swimming, we're out of stuff to think about. Yoga on the other hand...I have to really concentrate during my yoga class. That's true. And also, there's nothing really to look at when you're swimming! The bottom of the pool isn't that interesting ;-) Not always true... I was pleasantly surprised withe some nice "eye candy" lifeguarding tonight! I had a little trouble wanting to breathe bilaterally... |

Unfortunately my pool doesn't have a lifeguard, so if I want eye candy I just need to hope for a hottie swimming in the lane next to me.... Sadly, that hasn't happened yet! |

Champion 7931 Sequim, Washington | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread I am taking another day off of school...I am too depressed to do much of anything besides sit in a corner and feel sorry for myself. I am hoping to get to the used bike store and get a few parts I need to switch my frankenbike back to something that will work as a commuter. It is a smaller (thus lighter) version of the other bike and will be an easier and more affordable fix. I think working on a bike will be a bit therapeutic for me. I have a membership at a LBS with a workshop co-op available. |

Extreme Veteran 494 Morris County, NJ | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread yogachic - 2010-05-20 10:50 AM I hear ya, this used to plague my swim training. But, in true tri fashion, I simply purchased a pricey device that has eliminated this problem! I am absolutely loving my new Swimovate watch by Pool-Mate. It counts my laps, gives me my stroke average & split times. I can't wait to get back into the pool to play with that thing. (Oh, and swim too, of course!)MDHillSlug - 2010-05-19 5:03 PM yogachic - 2010-05-19 5:34 PM crews - 2010-05-19 2:13 PM yogachic - 2010-05-19 1:53 PM Hi Team! I keep falling behind on the thread...
