What an awesome story! That is sooooooooooooo cool.

Iam glad to have my bike back.  Now that I have made the decision to rent a bike in Florida, I am sort of wishing my bike was going with me as I had originally planned, but logistically it would be tough (friends picking us up at airport that we are visiting for 3 days before we rent our own car/check into our rental) Plus, at least I know it will be safe in the house while I am gone.

I concur!  A fabulous story!

Sandi, my parents both grew up in Falls Church, so I have some roots there.  Tonight on my way home from a day of meeting with my customer, I drove through D.C.  I passed by the Capital, National Monument, and the Jefferson Memorial.  I'm sure I passed some other significant buildings including the Smithsonian museums, but it was dark and I vaguely knew were I was   There is something special about that place!  I hope you get to visit your sister soon.

Hey everyone.

That's really cool sandi!

Amy, glad you got your bike back. I'm sure you're enjoying the new gadgets you've got hooked up

Terry, glad you manage to put that run in. That trip sounds really cool. All those places i've seen only on movies must be great to visit.

I've been slacking on my training Well i've done all the running but been putting off my swim and bike. Couple of times i get up in the morning planning to do some swimming, and next thing i know i've got my running shoes on and i'm off running. Planned to ride after work on wednesday and still end up running.

I think i'm a bit bothered that i haven't done as much as i could be for the half marathon in a week's time. I know i should just stick to my plan! Got a brick planned for tonight and i'm gonna make sure i do just that.

Hey all,

Sorry it has been a while, more like forever. I've been keeping up on my training nonetheless and am still on track for my tri on April 20. I ahve also sent in my registrations for the Camp Pendeleton, CA (Olympic), Redondo Beach Tri (Sprint), and the Mission Bay Tri (Sprint) to round out my first season. Next year will be some some 1/2 Iron's.

I will be leaving my new position on April 18 as I was offered the COO position for a local Dialysis company. The CEO / President is actually the owner / MD, he needs sometone to manage the day-to-day operations. So, I will be responsible for the whole company and it's 150 employees. A challenge worth overcoming.

My membership on the site expires in three weeks and I am not sure if I will re-up. I have come accross other triathletes at the gym and on the bike / run path at the beach. I would like to keep up with all of you. With my current position being such that it is, I have not been afforded the opportunity to log on as much as I would like. It sounds as if we all had a temporay melt down and needed some time away. However, we all seem to be getting back into the swing of things.

Please feel free to email me on my personal email as well, in case I do decide to opt out of re-up'ing my membership. My personal is "[email protected]." I know it will run out right before my first tri either way.

It is great to see that you all are doing so well. Take care and I will do my best to keep in touch.

John,

Please don't leave us!!!  We need you

Even if you don't pay for your membership renewal, you can still participate on the message boards, including this one.  I don't pay a penny for my membership.

I know it's tough to keep up with the thread and post often.  Please check in with us from time to time.  If nothing else, we definately want to know how your first race goes.

Congrats on the new job adventure!

Pretty cool weekend in salt lake.  I'm glad to be back because it was tiring.  (not physically, but our schedule was packed and just squeezing in workouts whenever possible)  Now I have to complete a comprehensive exam in the next six weeks, send it in, and then wait for it to be graded.  A lot of the material I was very familiar with and some new ideas (or trains of thought) were introduced as well.  Most of the presenters were working at the elite level in one fashion or another which was cool.  I always knew coaching was a diverse sport, but it was interesting to see the different techniques and opinions amongs our top coaches.  Really proves there is more than one way to get from point A to point B.

Pretty interesting that the world Champion was actually taking the class Also.  (Chris McCormick for those that don't know)  he walked int eh first day and just sat down in the back.  I nudged my buddy and said "hey isn't that Chris McCormick?"  I guess he and a retired pro buddy of his are starting a coaching business here in the states and they are both taking the class to get the certifications.  I thought that was a little funny but goes to show you that a credential or two is most important for a lot of people.  (despite the fact that he's won Hawaii)  Really cool and down to earth, despite how he is dedpicted in the media.

Terry, good to hear Grandma is doing good.  When I talked to Mom, they said she was physical therepy about two hours per day with weights and such.  That's great !!!  Glad you made it back ok.  Brandi and I missed being with the fam' yesterday but we had some friends invite us to their church and then to lunch so it was a pretty nice day regardless.

Sandi, what kind of bike are you riding that you won?

Amy, let us know how the first bike rides go with the clipless?

Mo, I can tell your a runner at heart, but that's great that you have something you love to do so much.

John, congrats on the position.  Sounds like a great challange but knowing your attitude and fortitude, I'm sure you'll smoke it.  Even if you retire from BT, make sure you check in once in a while to let us know how your races go this season.  We would miss you, but I know you will have a lot on your plate and tracking logs and such is just one more thing.

Hey guys and gals!  I'm sorry I have been a total slacker lately.  I feel like I'm letting you guys down   Here I am... back to my greatest struggle of inconsistency!

I had a pretty good run today (at least I felt better than I thought I would).  I'm also ready to detox from Easter candy!!!  I've been drinking lots of water today and consequently moving more as I have to get up to take extra trips to the restroom

Hope you guys are all having a good day!

Hey ken, good to have you back. You met Chris McCormack! That's so cool(trying not to sound like a 16y old school girl).

You're probably right about having some racing credential and making big training business out of it. One of the top guys at the langkawi ironman just set up a traininig centre here, created quite a buzz too. But to quote Joel Filliol on slowtwithch "being a successful triathlete in no way means that they really understand endurance training and coaching in particular".

hey team,  just finished putting a little compilation together from Coeur D'alene last year.  (yes I realize it's 9 months later, but I'm just starting to play with my video editing software)  Me and my buddy Doss from Atlanta participated.  Thought you guys might want to see it.

A couple clips and pics of Terry in there also.

Hi, all.  Sorry I've been incommunicado.  Overslept so gotta run.  Crazy schedule and off my training but definitely making progress physically.  Ken, the bike is a Specialized Transition (elite, I think).

Glad everyone is doing well.  Terry, I'm serious - call me!  Maybe we can talk each other into it!  307-760-8070

Ken- I can't wait to watch it - (utube is blocked at work ) Started to watch it this am- only got as far as you guys missing your flight- that happened to me once- they wouldn't let me past security even though the plane was very clearly still at the gate for another 35 minutes. That is NOT FUN.

Looking forward to watching your video!

I leave for Florida tomorrow night (well, really for the airport) but never fear- I will have my lap top with me all week and our house has wi fi- and I am going to be doing lots of training, lots of posting/blogging- really taking a hard look at myself, I hope-- and most of all, my first TRIATHLON ON 4/5 IN CLERMONT!

One of my co-workers motivated me to work out this afternoon after work.  It was a great way to end the work week!

Happy birthday TERRY!! That's cool you manage to get some running after work.

Ken, that's amazing. The water looked freezing cold. Well i'm very very inspired. The finishing's so sunny and bright. Me and a few mates were talking about ironman the other day and we figured if we were to do it this year, we'll end up finishing way after sunset. And i cant believe you missed your flight, for ironman?! by 5minutes!...

yeah, the missed flight stressed me out for a bit, but I dealt with it pretty quick so no big deal.  I watched some of the IRONMAN videos on you tube yesterday and got hungry for another one so we'll see if i cave in and sign up for next year.

so our group is dwindeling, but I don't want that to discourage anyone.  a lot of folks have changed plans and life changes, so let's do a first triathlon of the season roll call for those who know their schedule.  (I think Amy will be first up with her race in Clermont, but I'll start the list...

June 21st - XTERRA buffalo creek

Mo, good luck on the Mary' tomorrow.  let us know how it goes!!

My first is June 28th (or 29th).  There are two sprints in Atlanta that weekend.  I was planning on doing a women's only on the north side of town.  However, I think we'll be living in our new house by then so I'm starting to think I'll do the other one... Indian Springs.

I'm here in Florida- and suddenly very nervous for my race on Saturday! I need to get a wetsuit and a some sort of tri suit to wear before then.  Tonight I am plotting out my workout schedule for the next 10 days while I am here- I wish the race were either at the beginning of this trip or the end-- but small matter, I guess. As much as I'd love to run, I think I am only going to do short ones- 10-15 minute T runs off the bike-- at least until the race-- because I need to concentrate on outdoor biking and swim as much as I can while I have access to the outdoors and to the pool. I would ideally like to swim almost every day. I know I am going tomorrow.  Outdoor lap swimming? Never done it. Can't wait.

I may do a 6 or a 9 miler with the local running club Sunday morning-- if I feel okay after the race. And I want to try to do 4 strength workouts while I'm here. I think only one this week and 3 next week.

 So far, I'm racing-

THIS SATURDAY- Clermont- 25th  Great Clermont Triathlon Super Sprint

May 10- Prospect Mountain Uphill Road Race

June 15 (?) Father's Day- May do a team in the Relay of the Lake Placid Marathon

June 29-- my A race-- Tupper Lake 1/2 Tinman

would like to do every Monday night Mini- Tri in Lake Placid, as family life allows

September- Adirondack Half-Marathon

November-- NYC????????? I'd love to! But we will see how the lottery works out and if the Fred's Team part of the program works out.....

Did I mention I'm nervous for Clermont?

yeaj my team is still here!!!  well half of them at least.

Amy, you will do great in your race.  The best thing to do is to think through the raace from start to finish.  Visualize what you will do so you have your plan in place and that should help calm the nerves a bit.  I know as your first race there is a lot of unknown, but remember it's your race, no one elses, so do YOUR thing and have fun.

PS.  no fiber on Friday, your nerves will be enough to keep your system flowing.  (and no need to carbo load either, just keep your diet normal so your body isn't shocked.  (just like any road race you've run.

did the bike shop fit you to the rental bike?  (I'm assuming)

I watched some of the IRONMAN videos on you tube yesterday and got hungry for another one so we'll see if i cave in and sign up for next year

Yeah, you got me ken. Been watching ironman videos on youtube. I'm well hyped up, gonna shoot for langkawi ironman 2010. Wanted to sign up for a 70.3 this september in singpore but looking at the entrance fee, i decided better wait for another year when i'm better prepared especially for the swim. If i were to pay that much money, i better do well.

Amy, you're gonna do fine. With the amount of training you've put in, it's gonna be real easy. Just take the race as aregular training day. Dont need to do anything different.

I've got few races lined up this couple of months:

13 Apr - Orange run 9Km
27 Apr - New Balance Klang Pacers Half Marathon (not yet registered)
11 May - A Famosa Triathlon
18 May - New Balance Pacesetters 15km
25 May - RMAF Half marathon (not yet registered)
15 Jun - Laguna Phuket International Marathon

I know it seems a bit too much but they're all practice races. It's so much easier doing long runs in an actual race. There are water stations and time-keeper. Ultimately they should prepare me for attempting a BQ in december.
