I had the runs for 8 days after my first tri. Lots of pastureland draining into the river we swam in. Couldn't imagine having them for 30 days tho.

#1274- 6.2 mi progression - did my last 3.1 miles under 20min

Still at it. Logging 70-80 mpw. I have one more long run before my taper. Last Friday I did my longest run of this training block, just over 35 miles with approximately 10k feet of gain, and 10k feet of loss. I started about 2 hours pre-dawn with my headlamp and made it to a nice pond just in time to see the sun come up. Run went well. My feet were a bit sore since my shoes are a bit past expiration, and at one point I sort of forgot to refill my water and had some dehydration issues, Other than that I feel like I am ready for my race on May 13th. I am doing 30 miles or so Friday, then I will recover a bit with a nice 3 week taper.

Monday - #995 - 2 miles after about 22 on my first real ride outside
Tuesday - #996 - 4 miles at lunch, 1500y swim later
Wednesday - #997 - 2 miles in the evening
Thursday - #998 - 2 miles
Friday - #999 - 2 miles and then 1:20 on the bike trainer
Saturday - #1000 - 2 miles easy
Sunday - #1001 - 2 miles before yard work, then 2 hours on the bike trainer

It was an interesting week. Started to develop a nagging injury about Monday or so, I think associate with the gluteus medius. My first 50-100 yards are a shuffle until I can fall into a stride. Been rolling out a ton, it provides some relief, but it seems to be back every morning. Have an appointment this afternoon.

On Wednesday, I had to go across the state for a couple days for work. Of course on Wed evening when I got dressed to run, I realized I only brought ONE of my running shoes. Not one pair...just one shoe. So rather than let the streak go, I ran in sandals on Wednesday night and Thursday. Definitely slowed me down, but I still got it done.

I wanted to do something more for #1000, but I think 2 miles was about all my body was going to allow that day.

Im not sure I should be doing a daily run -Im a newbie with some overweight- but I've been following a couch to 5k -sort off- program lately and I already run-walked 4 days in a row (average of 5,5-6 km) -I'm in the final weeks of the program.

I dont want to rush into running, but I do have a deadline slowly approaching. In order to commit myself to weight loss and training, a couple of weeks ago I registered for the 70,3 in Punta del Este (Uruguay) which will be held at the end of November. I am way off in my training but I still believe there is time for me to get fit and ready, and when I saw this 30 day challenge I was intrigued and got sucked into it.

I will let you know how this goes.

Fighting a glute injury which is resulting in a very tight piriformis. Giving consideration to dropping the streak. I don't really want to, but we'll see - might be forced to regardless of what I want.

#1297-1298- 108 miles - Ran the Cruel Jewel. I'll probably write a race report. It was the toughest race I've ever done. This race was VERY physically challenging. 108 miles, 33,000+ feet of climbing. I finished 14th of 106 at 29 hours 29 minutes.

#1299- 2 miles. I was DREADING having to run for the entire 14 hour drive home, I was pretty beat up but didn't want the streak to end. It wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Averaged 14 minute miles, which I thought was not too shabby considering how I felt on the ride home. Every time I got out of the car for food or gas, I really couldn't fathom how I was going to run when I got home.

Haven't checked in for awhile, congrats on hitting 1000, and I hope you pull through the injury.

Thursday - #1019 - 2 miles
Friday - #1020 - 2 miles, then 1000y swim
Saturday - #1021 - 2 miles
Sunday - #1022 - 2 miles
Monday - #1023 - 2 miles plus 2000y swim
Tuesday - #1024 - 2 miles then 15 mile bike
Wednesday - #1025 - 2 miles
Thursday - #1026 - 2 miles - 2 miles plus 13.5 mile bike
Friday - #1027 - 2 miles
Saturday - #1028 - 2 miles plus 18 holes golf
Sunday - #1028 - 2 miles plus 36 holes golf
Monday - #1030 - 2 miles plus 18 holes golf plus 15 mile ride
Tuesday - #1031 - 2 miles plus 1500y swim
Wednesday - #1032 - 2 miles plus 15 mile ride
Thursday - #1033 - 2 miles and then a quick open water swim

Managed to keep the streak going through some pretty tough days with this injury. Seems to be working itself out now (I hope). Last night's run was the least amount of pain I've experienced in a while, and it felt like I was actually running almost normal again, outside of it being about 90F. Might not do as poorly in next weekend's first triathlon of the year after all.

Tuesday - #1038 - 2 miles after both a 1500y swim and over 100 balls at the golf range

First triathlon this weekend. Just going to have to gut through the run, since I haven't run more than 2 miles at once in about 4 weeks. Thankfully last night's swim felt great for the first time in ages.

Thanks, man. I'm getting through it but I have no power in my run right now. I come to a near standstill when going up hill. It's a frustrating process.

Wedesday - #1039 - 2 miles after a 15 mile bike
Thursday - #1040 - 2 miles
Friday - #1041 2 miles
Saturday - #1042 - 3.1 miles in my first triathlon of the year. Frustrating because I was probably 2.5 minutes off what I would've expected for my run and probably about 2 minutes off my bike - with this injury I just can't seem to get power out of my legs, so uphills in both disciplines just kill me. I would've easily been on the podium had I been healthy, but instead finished 4th in my AG. Such is life.
Sunday - #1043 - 2 miles
Monday - #1044 - 2 miles

Tuesday - #1045 - 2 miles (first time trying speed work intervals in a LONG time) and then 1500y swim
Wednesday - #1046 - 2 miles and then a very short 7 mile bike
Thursday - #1047 - 2 miles and then 1500y swim
Friday - #1048 - 2 miles
Saturday - #1049 - 2 miles
Sunday - #1050 - Grand Rapids Sprint Triathlon (3.1 miles). Actually ran my 5K about 90 seconds faster than the previous week. Still was painful in the glute but I was *shocked* by the improvement, especially since I somehow forgot my Garmin watch and had no idea how fast I was running until I looked at my results.
Monday - #1051 - 2 miles and then 15 miles on the bike
Tuesday - #1052 - Took the girlfriend for her first ever mountain bike ride (only 5 or 6 miles total) and then ran 2 miles.
Wednesday - #1053 - 2 miles and 1000y swim in which I just had zero motivation to be in the water
Thursday - #1054 - 2 miles after a long day at work

Monday - #1058 - 2 miles after a short bike ride due to another blown tube
Tuesday - #1059 - 2 miles speed work intervals and then 1500y in the pool
Wednesday - #1060 - 2 miles after a 15 mile bike (no blown tube this time!)

Good to see the injury is resolving (hopefully?). And that is one thing I'm not missing now that I'm not riding, flats and other mechanical issues. The only mechanical issues I have are with my body. Tight hamstring in right leg since the race (and before I think), and two numb toes still on my right foot (neuroma related probably).

#1345- 16 mi with lots of climbing and descent, total approx 10k elevation change, 5000 gain, 5000 loss. Lots of wildlife today. Two rattlesnakes and a stubborn bear that wouldn't clear out. I ended up having to turn around and go back up and over the mountain that I just came down off of.

Starting to increase volume/miles for my October race, Grindstone 100.

Friday - #1062 - 2 miles
Saturday - #1063 - 2 miles and then a 15 mile bike
Sunday - #1064 - 2 miles and then 2K yards in the pool
Monday - #1065 - flew to San Francisco in the morning, did 2 miles on the treadmill as soon as I got to the hotel, then walked around for miles and miles
Tuesday - #1066 - 3.1 miles on the Embarcadero
Wednesday - #1067 - 2 miles on the hotel treadmill
Thursday - #1068 - 2 miles on the Embarcadero
Friday - #1069 - 2 miles on the Embarcadero, plus lots of walking up SF hills
Saturday - #1070 - 2 miles and then a 15 mile bike
Sunday - #1071 - 3 miles
Monday - #1072 - 2 miles

The injury is definitely better, but not great. Still sore and tight but manageable. Hopefully on the backside of this one.

The closest I'll come to seeing a rattlesnake or a bear on my run is if I stop and google them on my phone.

Tuesday - #1073 - 2 miles easy after a 1500y swim
Wednesday - #1074 - 2 miles
Thursday - #1075 - 2 miles easy after a 15.5 mile bike
Friday - #1076 - 2 miles and then 1000y in the pool
Saturday - #1077 - 2 miles easy

Sunday - #1078 - Grand Haven sprint triathlon (3.1 miles). What a disaster. I waited all week to sign up for this race, because the water temperature had been listed in the low-mid 40s due to the way the winds had been coming in (NE winds pull up the water from the bottom of Lake Michigan, if I remember it right). By Saturday, it was about 68F or so, no problem. I signed up in late registration. Sure enough, the winds turned over night and the water temp dropped over 10 degrees. They said it was about 57, but no way. I was in and trying to get acclimated, and thought I did a good job. However, when the race started, I ran into the water and lungs just seized up. I couldn't breathe. Thought about calling it quits, but instead just floated there for about 2 minutes and then started swimming. Was about 200y before I could even really get moving. I'm normally top 10-20 in the swim, so I started picking people off but was way too far behind. Then there's a 3/4 mile run to transition, and I just couldn't get moving. My legs just felt weak on the bike, and I was over a minute slower than last year, despite being in what I think is better shape. And the run...ugh. Legs were like anvils. Couldn't get them moving. Felt like I was shuffling the entire time. And of course since I wasn't getting much knee lift, with about a mile left, I caught the edge of a raised sidewalk block and fell, scraping up my hands and my knees. Got up and finished it, and at least I looked cool finishing with blood streaming down my leg. I was over 6 minutes slower than last year's time. Very frustrating.

Monday - #1079 - 2 miles very easy after a 15 mile bike
