I did use fins the first time. Plan is to do it without. We do have a guest room and it does get used occasionally.
Oh wow. Um. sharks? Jellyfish etc? Good place to swim I take it? last time I saw in the ocean I was 9 years old..... Yes there are sharks, didn't see any, the bottom was sandy the whole way so I don't think they come in there, I didn't see a lot of bait fish, that usually brings them in. The kayak/boat tours go along the cliff's so they are just out from us. Jelly fish usually hit the south facing shores not so much the north, and this swim is on the north shore. You can't think much about it, you just have to do it. The people I did it with do it all the time. Good preparation for the Waikiki rough water swim. On my list of things to do. click on link: |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: Flying Fish II I'm a big fearty for ocean swimming. But then again I was scared of swimming in the lake too and now I can't get enough. My hubby and I have constantly talked all this past year about moving to warmer climates so that he could be happy not having any rain and I could be happy training and racing year round. Hawaii might be a bit too far for me,farther in the sense - away from Scotland - if you know what I mean, but it must be great that you have that constant weather. I am very jealous.
So yes. When shall we visit? lol |

It was nice (even though the pool manager was a little late). Only three of us swimming. Pool manager/Lifeguard/Coach gave me a workout, it was decent, though I couldn't complete the last 250 yds of the last set... (400 cool down)... he had me doing some endurance sets that flat out kicked my... well you know... All in all it was a good workout and I swam more than anyother swim so far (1800 yds vs 1750yds) even if it was only by 50 yards. |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: Flying Fish II Thanks Dee. I've really missed out this weekend Makes me feel miserable not being able to swim or even *gasp* run! Our power went out tonight at around 5.15 !! So we hopped in the Jeep and set off for somewhere that sold soup and salads. We ended up at a lovely wee bakery not far from our house. I had some mushroom soup and 1/2 chicken and roasted pepper sandwich. Oh it hit the spot.
I think during the packers game tomorrow,I'll go hit the gym and get my evaluation done at least. See how I feel however but that food was totally inhaled tonight which is a good sign.
Nice work everyone, you're doing a grand job for the fishies! |

I needed to get rid of some angst before the Packers win (sorry Giants fans!) and to get out of the house - cabin fever sucks when it's below 0 degrees (and without windchill). The pool was beckoning me, and I followed - thank you, pool!C'mon, FF team!!!! Edited by D001 2008-01-20 2:41 PM |

Master 1292 Houston | Subject: RE: Flying Fish II No swimming for me this weekend. I will back at it in the morning and I will do more yardage to make up for it. It's cold for here so I am staying inside for the most part and watching the games. Hubbydoesn't do football so he's heading to the garage for some purging. We have been cleaning house all weekend and have decided we need to get a jump on some spring cleaning. I am a huge pack rat so there's a lot to go through!!! However you cheer for, good luck!! I don't really have a team, so I am just looking for some good football. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Flying Fish II Hello Flying Fish, We have made it to California. Our 8:30am flight to SF was canceled on Friday evening at about 9:30pm. They then put us on a 2:40 flight to LA with a connector to SF that would have gotten us here about 7:40pm. So we drove through SNOW to get to the airport. Got checked in and to the gate. While we were waiting, they announced that once we got on the plane there would be a 90 minute wait to get deiced. Then the 5 hour flight to LA and there would be no food served on the flight. So if you are hungry get some food now. I lookd at Frank and said...we have 70 minutes in LA between our flights. If this flight leaves 90 minutes late, guess what...we won't make our connector. So back to the ticket counter to figure out what to do. Lo and behold there is a direct flight to SF at 5:10pm. It would get us into SF at 7:26pm. So we switched flights again. Sat around in ATL for another 3 hours, but when we did get on our flight, they announced that we would not need to deice and once we were all boarded we would be taking off. And we did. It was a great flight. There were even some empty seats in the plane. We were met at the airport by our daughter, son-in-law, grandsons and new granddaughter. Went and had burritos at El Super Buritto (only in CA), then drove to Manteca. Today has been wonderful spending time with them. So glad to be here. |
