The west coast isn't too bad right now! Still too hot. I was going to run when I got home but went to the Y hoping for a treadmill. No such luck as everyone else had the same plan, so did a class instead. I hate treadmill lines...hate hate hate...and time limits on treadmills...I know why they exist...but I still hate them. Haha I've been debating on seeing if I could get one cheap off of kijiji for winter time because as fun as -40C was last yr...and as fun as playing musical treadmills was last year trying to get long runs in...haha...We will see...hrmmm |

I just did my first 3+ hour ride yesterday and have a bit of chaffing in the undercarriage. I used Chamois Butt'r (which I used with 2 hour rides with success) but it just didn't cut it for a 3 hour ride. Tonight I rode for an hour (with nothing like usual for less than 2 hours) and of course re-aggravated what I did yesterday. So my question is, what does everyone use to prevent saddle sores/chaffing on long rides? I see Assos Chamois cream has good reviews. FWIW I ride in Pearl Izumi tri shorts that have a very minimal pad. I'm thinking about some Desoto 400 mile shorts so chime in there as well. |

I tend to use a triple combo of: body glide, chamois butter and noxzema (sp?) cream. Direct skin application of body glide on skin and chamois butter and noxzema cream on chamois. Why the noxzema cream you ask? Well--1) its cheap, and 2) it has a wonderful cooling tingly sensation. This seems to work for me. I have Sugoi shorts with minimal pad. I haven't been bothered for a long time by chaffing/saddle sores. You will have to wait for the guys for anatomic specific variations |
