Member 102 Rensselaer, New York | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED I plan on starting the 0 to 1650 in three weeks. I want to focus on not drowning or drinking the pool for the next few weeks. My 1st Tri in in 16 weeks so if I can complete the 0 to 1650 I will have plenty of time to get some OWS experience before my Tri. Excited!! Originally posted by Lovey Thank you everyone for your kind words. It's a pretty tough time around the house these days but it's getting better every day. I'm a planner by nature so having so many plans switched up at once threw me into a tailspin. But ANYWAY... I've tried the 0 to 1650 plan twice but have never made it past a week or so. Do you guys mind if I try to join in too? Maybe as a "team" we'll finally make it through! Originally posted by Rnay225 .... Strangely enough it was also the first day my 910xt was fairly accurate with stroke / length detection. I have two more swims scheduled this week (plus another lesson), which should hopefully *fingers crossed* see me through week one of the program. Swimming really is an alien activity for me...still amazes me how much different it is from the other sports. I feel like you can "muscle" your way through a run or bike ride, while swimming affords no such avenue. You must apply *some* technique if you want to not drown. :D This past month has instilled in me a great respect for swimming and swimmers in general - it truly is an art form. Congrats on completing 0 to 1650 day one. I assume you just finished week one now? You are right that swimming is about technique (I suck at it). It does get better though. In saying so, if you don't mind some company and cheering , I think i am going to do this program with you. I have started and restarted so many times and never finished. Aiming to finish with you. Member 102 Rensselaer, New York | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED I should have a bike by the end of the day. If so I may do a quick fit at home before I take it in for my actual fit at the LBS. I really want to get out and see how she performs. This weekend is supposed to be really beautiful and I want to get some road time in. |

Extreme Veteran 1574 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Originally posted by afischer01 Question....I have been doing sping class and haven't had any issues with my tailbone hurting. However, I have been using my bike on a trainer at home and the last few days my tailbone has been really sore. Like, sit down and have a quick sharp-ish pain, then fine. Does this sound like a seat adjustment issue or a new saddle issue? The saddles in spin class are pretty hard while mine at home is a little more padded with the v cut in the back which is supposed to relieve pressure on the tailbone (go figure). Any suggestions? Could be several things from your position on the spin bike to your bike, the seat themselves, you are still working up saddle time (aches and pains there), maybe you tried to do a little extra at home after class and your butt told you no. I know these did not help but the main thing to worry about is that your bike at home is fit properly, that fit is way more important than the spin bike fit and can be dialed in better. Some times a saddle can work for a person and then they change something and it no longer feels right or works. It is kind of a work in progress to get the correct fit and correct saddle. You may have just hit something wrong and there is tenderness in that area. I can tell you that saddles are individual, most love the Cobb V-Flow saddles and I hated it. I like the Fizik Airone Tri 2 seat, which most find very uncomfortable (look how many get taken off new bikes and sold here, which has been great for me). All of that said to say this, just keep an eye on the situation. |

Veteran 251 Louisville | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Day 1 (again) of 0-1650 complete! I probably won't get all 3 days in this week since I won't be able to get to the pool tomorrow or Saturday but we'll see. Today went really well since I have a much better base than the last time I tried it so I'm ok with missing a day. Might go to either a muscle definition or spinning class tonight. What's everyone else up to? |

Extreme Veteran 1574 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Beth, great news on the free and clear, and way to capture and save the turtle. I laughed when Issac posted his and especially now becuase it made me realize that I will likely never see a turtle the same again after being in this group. You know that before you just would have run by it but now you stop, pick it up, and photograph it. Just my stupid thought for the day |

The person I bought it from has already put on a shorter stem, new brake pads and different tires. I have to buy a hex wrench set to lower the saddle. Extreme Veteran 1574 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Mike great looking bike, I am so happy for you and that your search has come to an end. Well you are an over achiever, because the homework was going to be to post a picture. Posting a picture of your bike is known as Bike Porn around here for those who didn't know. So I was going to tell you to post the Porn. Again, I am so happy that you found what you were looking for, now you have to decide if it's male or female, and what name you will give it. Edit: Let me add that looking at the picture again made me laugh when I saw the lit candle because my wife would tease me that I was going to have a candle lit dinner with my lady. Member 108 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED Nice looking bike you got there mike... Go out and ride!!! But don't get into a stupid hurry like i did. (embarrassing story follows) I got my bike with out Pedals of course and i wanted to ride around the block so bad!!! After i got my bike my wife became jealous so i looked for one for her on craigslist.... Long story short i bought her a fuji finest 2.0 road bike with 45 miles for $100! I told the lady about buying mine and how my wife was jealous and that i would like to surprise her but i only had 100 bucks. She thought it was so sweet of me that she may have gave me the bike for free! (she was asking 500 and it retailed for $1000) i got home with her bike around midnight which did have pedals. I decided to take her pedals off and put them on my bike. I decided to stay close and on a well lit sidewalk. After about a mile wearing all black and no helmet at about 1230am i was totally digging it and decided to go a little further and a little faster. I came up on a bridge with a nice lit side walk and slowed down a bit because i was a little nervous of the narrow "path" on the bridge. Next thing i know i am being thrown over the handle bars as i hit a 3" or so step up on the side walk! it happened so fast that i was able to catch my fall and then tire around and catch my bike before it landed on me! I popped the tube in my tire and that was it! i just knew i destroyed the rim but i could not believe that it was true as the day it left the factory! i did have about a one mile walk of shame home. Lol. Gosh that was a lot to type on my phone hahaha sorry for the typos, grammatical errors and of course lower case "I's" |

For instance even though I'm a female my bike is also female. As soon as I saw her I knew her name: Deloris. (See profile pic) only difference is that she has red bar tape. |

We had some thunderstorms roll through the Albany area so we were just being safe. I'm sure my fiancee will be on me for spending more time with the bike than I do her. I know the bike will be a "she" I just don't have a name picked out yet. Any suggestions? |

Member 45 | Subject: RE: Todd's Tri Turtles - (Beginners, Sprint, 5K, 10K) - CLOSED So today I started week 2 of the 0 to 1650 program and quite honestly was terrified about the 1x200 yards lead in (followed by 4x100). 8 lengths of the pool without stopping?! - no way / cant be done Well I am happy to say that it can albeit slowly (and rather strange looking I'm sure!) I found that breaking it down to 50 yard distances in my head made it a little less daunting. When I finished the 200 the 100s felt like they were becoming the "new 50s" which was a great feeling. I am slowly putting some of the pieces of the lessons and online reading about swimming together, while I cant quite string it altogether at the same time occasionally it feels "right". One bit of info that helped me survive today was to try and remain relaxed. An issue I would often run into is feeling like I was running out of air which in turn would cause me to tense up only making the oxygen consumption worse. If I can get relaxed things seem to settle down and I don't feel like I am swimming into a tsunami wearing a pair of boots with a baby panda on my back. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be w2d2 hopefully it goes as well (or better) than today! |

Big Red is a Raleigh and was my first bike since I had a Minnie Mouse one with training wheels. Big Red is a male and a very tough one at that. He's more on the serious side and very mature and focused on safety. My current racing bike is a Trek Lexa S named Dottie. She's is a fast, fun, fearless, silly gal who is always asking for attention. I love bikes so much!
