HEY JAY. the Marine Corp is a tough one to get into, unless your sitting at your computer the minute they start registration.... however, The Columbus Marathon is on 10/18....ive never participated, but ive heard good things about it. theres also the OBX (Outerbanks) Marathon one as well, 11/08.....that just seems like a cool one to do. runnersworld.com has a RACE FINDER where you can get a listing of races across the country and even international races....you can put in your specific search criteria (date, distance, location et al) stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-06-09 12:31 PM |

Master 1726 Sacramento, California | Subject: RE: Team Trifecta Oh golly...I had a minor falling apart this morning!...I have my first sprint tri on Sunday (I did a super sprint last summer) and the water temp is only supposed to be in the 60's so I rented a wetsuit. I wore the wetsuit to the pool and at first I was having problems with my stroke and breathing but I was able to get my self undercontrol after about 200 yards...however, near the end of 900yards I started to get dizzy and feel nauseated and just felt awful. I am not sure if I was overheating in the indoor pool, if I was having BS issues (I am diabetic), or if it was just lack of training although I routinely swim 1200-1600yards 2 times per week. Needless to say I am very scared now of how the race is going to go! Edited by kromanowski 2009-06-09 1:31 PM |

I was going to do Marine Corps Marathon but it sold out. I need to get another Mary in in October or November. Any suggestions? In your Race Log view, there are two drop down menus at the very bottom underneath the list of races. One is to delete a race (on the left) and the other is to load the distances in your log (on the right). Just choose the race you want to delete from the menu on the left and click the button! I had to delete a race last week after they changed the date at the last minute!! That did the trick. Thanks! |

Katie, I always get really hot and uncomfortable whenever I have swum in a outdoor pool let alone an indoor pool whenever I test out my wetsuit. And my stroke is always a little different but just relax in the race and it will all come together. Your stroke may feel wonky at the beginning come rce day and I always tend to get puffed at the start but then focus on finding a rhythm. So just focus on your stroke and being relaxed and everything will smooth out. |

Master 1702 Southern Ontario | Subject: RE: Team Trifecta I find before the race just going under water and fully exhaling helps too. I had my first wetsuit swim last week and it was weird. It definitely does change things up! You'll be fine - just relax and enjoy. |

Did a little 5k run......first few minutes were ouch, then it was ok. Of course the minute I stopped I was in pain again. My son says I look like a little old lady when I come down the stairs. Now if you will excuse me I have a date with my sadistic friend: the foam roller. |

I know that even when I do an OWS in my wetsuit , when the water is too warm it is uncomfortable. I cannot imagine how it would be in a pool. Sounds like you have enough swim training under your belt........ you will be fine. Can you get an opportunity to pracitce in the open water before your race? This may help to calm your nerves. Isn't taper madness just swell??? |

Shall I HTFU??? Helen, of all the people I can think of who need to HTFU, you are not one of them! Take it easy on yourself and then double up next week. Oh thanks Jenna........you are sweet. But ...ummm.......i cannot double up next week. That would mean running 80 k in one week. I will not get a long run in this week but will just run a bunch of short distances to make up the kilometerage.......yes that is a word because I say it is!! Edited by aquagirl 2009-06-09 6:41 PM |

Don't do ANYTHING other than train and post on BT. Of course, you can eat while on BT. And work while on BT. And apparently some people even train while on BT, but I haven't mastered that one yet.... |
