Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread That story really moved me. I just went online and ordered a Road ID. Currently, when I'm biking, my only ID is my expired drivers license that I keep in my saddle bag, but who knows if paramedics, police, etc. would look there since it's tucked under the seat. I hope I never need to use it... Just a little peace of mind, I guess! |

I work in the emergency environment and we aren't always real thorough about looking for ID. I don't want to put this on my wife. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread I keep my drivers license and a credit card in my cell phone case but I've heard that stuff like cell phones and shoes can go flying in an accident. I've thought about getting something from road ID but haven't yet. Maybe you can give us some help with this Tim, where do you check for ID? Do you look for wristbands or dog tags? |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread If you're going to order a Road ID, go to this site first... http://www.retailmenot.com/view/roadid.com They have coupon/discount codes for online orders. I used the code "RID628865" and got $2 off. Total cost for my Road ID (the Wrist ID Sport) that will provide me and my wife some added 'peace of mind'? $19.48. I actually have never heard of that website before (http://www.retailmenot.com/) but it's really cool. They provide discount codes for just about every online retailer out there. If one code doesn't get you a discount, they give you another one to try. |

What happened to the driver? We have a local ride here in SLC. I was thinking about taking my bike to work so I can jump in on the ride on my way home but forgot the ride was today. I'll have to see what I can work out. Thats for the kind words! If you can't make a ride, maybe a moment of reflection tonight at 7pm would be appropriate. His name was John F. Greaves and for all the others that were victims of this needless tragedy. As for the woman, I know she was being charged with felonious gross negligence for not sharing the road. I believe the incident occurred before texting on phones was illegal in California. Sorry, but I'm not sure of the present status of the case. Wish I would have checked the thread earlier. I would have ridden with the group in town. I'll have to have my own silent moment instead. Sad, sad stuff. |

I got laughed at swimming masters one time - I said how are they even going to know who we are when we are at the Y????? I have no problem wearing it all the time. I tell people it is my oh sh*t identification and I hope I never need to use it! I've had mine about the same time and try never to leave the house without it. In fact I've backtracked on a few rides to grab it. It's nice to have that piece of mind. |

I wear a road id figuring some day I might have a heart attack in the wee morning hours on a run. Being mid-fories, you just never know when you are going to have the big one :-). I wear the road id on my ankle. Next one I get will be on my wrist. I think it is more common for EMS to check your wrist. Edited by ransick 2010-05-19 10:31 PM |

Master 2484 St. Louis | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread No swim tonight. I (re) tiled the fireplace base instead. http://tweetphoto.com/23151463 Yes, there is one handle missing on the fireplace doors. I think a puppy chewed it off a few years back. Like all projects for me, it was frustrating. The new tile wouldn't fit under the mantle. After tiling the base and front two rows, I went to Lowes and spent a hundred bucks on a tool to shave the bottom of the mantle off. Should have worn the road id because I'm sure my blood pressure was through the roof :-). That's a hundred bucks I could have put towards my next bike! |

Mike, it's ironic you said that... as I ventured out on my morning run today, I though, "hmmm... I don't have ANY id on me at all... what if I have a heart attack, get hit by a car, etc." Can't wait for my Road ID to arrive in the mail. At very least, I should have put my drivers license in my pocket this morning. The other ironic thing is that us being triathletes, we're probably the LEAST likely people to have a heart attack! |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread I did an 8 mile run this morning (without any ID). It was an absolutely gorgeous morning. Running used to be my least favorite part of training, but it is rapidly becoming my favorite. It's very cathartic being running out there on the road while most people are still slumbering away. My training plan has a 1:30 bike ride tomorrow. I'm not sure if I feel comfortable going out on the road just as the sun's coming up. So I'm torn between that or a very, very long and boring trainer ride. I do have the second Transformers movie on DVR that I could watch, I suppose. Decisions... decisions... |

Howdy Sal We are winning - not much other than that except we hope you have Road ID or something like it when training away from the house I typically carry I.D. when I'm out riding. I throw my Driver's License in my behind the seat bike bag. Not the best, but it is I.D. Not so good when I run. I should just order some road I.D. Definitely worth it... |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread Put on my running shorts and shoes and was ready to head out the door to go for a run with my son and the phone rang. Friend was having stress so I headed over to talk for a while. Didn't get home until 11:30 so my run got bumped back a day. I have to go pick up my son's graduation pictures on my lunch so no lunch workout. I'm thinking a run and some strength training for tonight. I may have to take my son to pick up a tux for the upcoming Senior Ball so we'll see how it goes. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread So Bill. Are you getting nervous for your upcoming ride? Its not too far off. Is this a totally self-sufficient ride or are you having some sort of support along the way? I'd be a bundle of nerves at this point. I'm always forgetting things so I would be putting things together already and double checking the list and can guarantee I would still miss something. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Men's May Challenge Thread wgraves7582 - 2010-05-19 7:02 PM Well it is official - my new bike has 1000 miles on it as of this afternoon. I cried a tear of joy, it was on a flat section on the way home after a slight climb uphill. Powers Road. I will never forget the location - LOL Have a great evening! Is this the same bike you'll be taking on your epic ride next month? You'll almost triple the mileage! |
