Enjoy your vacations Warren & Kim!

I am jealous.  My daughter flew to Florida tonight too.  I am here making her tuition money.  Whine-one-one.

So glad people are getting to enjoy warmer climates and time away! Enjoy all.

Nice bike (and dog) Scott! But honestly - I'm jealous of the sunny day with no snow on the ground in the background.

Still recovering from Sunday coupled with a tough week at work makes for a quiet Jennifer (hard to imagine - but true!). Last swim meet of the season for my girls tomorrow (it's a LLLOOONNNGGG season) - should free me up a bit next week. Best of luck to Lovey on Sunday.

Borrowing a quote from one of the blogs I follow: "Enjoy the art of movement and eat like you give a damn."

Kathy - I am IN!!  Last day for working nights...YEAH!

Wendy - Awesome job on your TT.

Warren & Kim - JEALOUS!  enjoy the warm weather and beaches.

Lovey - Good Luck Sunday...hopefully the weather will cooperate

Everyone else evjoy your weekend,  we have officially started lacrosse. Practice on Sat. & every Tue./Thur nights and then games Saturdays. It is just another hurdle in the life of training, throw in lawncare and other family activites and it is a challenge/juggling act.

Thanks.

@ Scott - which lacrosse league do you play for? We played Howard County Rec for 5 years and this year we moved to Catonsville. All their teams are travel teams.

Well...it may be warm here in Nevada (60) compared to New England, but today, with 3 weeks to go until my event I thought I'd better get into the water. So, off to Lake Mead with my new wetsuit. Water temp 55 degrees. Actually took my breath away. At first I couldn't swim more than about 3 strokes...it was awful. Got a little better as I kept trying, but I sure hope the water warms up LOTS in the next 3 weeks

As you all know I was on mandatory exercise free rest for 2 and a half weeks. I ran short distances last week and my foot felt fine.

Today, I was nervous but my running buddy aand I head to the B&A Trail Marathon and Half Marathon. We opted for an early start and headed out in the dark. The trail is dimly lit so you really dont need headlamps. I felt good and at the 13 mile mark, still feeling ok and no foot troubles kept going. At mile 17, my foot had a slight soreness. I stretched it and it felt ok until mile 19 when it came back with a vengeance. It eased slightly but by mile 20, it was there to stay. The last 10K was running and a lot of walking. At fist it hurt only when I walked but then it hurt whether I walked or run.

I drizzled while I ran but it rained and poured after we started. It missed us almost entirely. The course support was great with water stop ever 3 miles or so and a porta-potty at each one along with gatorade, power gel, swedish fish, pretzels and sweet oranges.

I did my first marathon! I am a marathoner!

Now I will be on selfimposed rest until I see my doc on Thursday.

Wow! 55 is cold. Even to me. A few recommendations - 1) get the booties for your feet (like neoprene socks) - so you can feel your feet when you come out of the water and 2) get the neoprene swim cap or wear two swim caps to keep your head warm and finally 3) wear ear plugs to help avoid the "ice cream headache" that you can get when it's really cold.

And - keep practicing. The more you are in the water, the more comfortable you will be in the water

Good job getting in there!

Congrats Lovely!!  Sounds like a tough race to finish.  I hope your foot heals quickly!!  Glad to hear you didn't get rained on too badly.  You should be very proud of yourself.

Is it Friday yet?? I am sooo ready for the weekend or at least a day off.  I am looking ahead at the weekend forecast and Sat. looks good for a bike adventure.  Since my bike is all clean and ready to go I'd like to get it broken in before the first race.

Wendy- When is your race?

Hey Guys, didn't mean to go silent.
I went for a podiatry follow up. The xrays showed evidence of a healing stress fracture. It must have happened when I first felt the pain from running on an extremely uneven road last month. I didn't go see my podiatist until 2 weeks later.

Today was the first day since initial injury that I don't feel pain with each step. Its still tender if I twist my foot a certain way. doc said the stress fracture is healed but the tendons/muscles around it is still healing. I need to give it at least another week of rest. No running, biking not even swimming.

So nice to finally know...take it easy Lovey - taking the time now to let it heal will mean it will *stay* healed. Enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
