Thanks guys.  I just got back from the Special Olympics, and I have to tell you it was awesome.  I've never been before, and my guy is probably a year or two away from really being able to do it, but watching him and everyone else was truly inspiring.  What some of these people overcome to compete at all is really amazing.  I admit I'm getting sappier as I age, but I definitely had some lump in the throat moments.

J did the long jump and softball throw.  He was scheduled to run in the 50, but he couldn't hack any more waiting so headed home and we'll tackle that one next year.  I'm off to my nephews first communion, but hopefully I won't eat too much of the Italian spread at the post-party and I'll get in some training this evening.

I hope to embarrass myself by entering the 100 TT challenge this week, though I haven't really done any swimming yet this year.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and the races go well.

That's just awesome man.  I really need to get involved.

As for the 100TT challenge...you should definitely do it!

jeg2011 - 2011-05-14 4:44 PM Just finished my brick. I biked 13miles in 58.30 and ran 3miles in 28.54.

Nice work!!!  I just finished my brick also!  Ran about the same distance as you...but in 30 minutes!

I had a good brick session yesterday, 28 mile bike ride in 1:30 and then a 4.4 mile run in 40 min. I was glad to be out on a day it was supposed to rain. It dumped an hour after I got back in. I'm going to the pool today to try this 100 yard timed swim after I warm up a bit.

Hope everyone's training is going well, I feel like I have checked out for the last couple of weeks.  Something about life and priorites.  This week  a lone I have had a College graduation, a wedding and a funeral.  My training was making it to all events on time, especially since there were several 3 hour drives involved.  But out of all of it I did realize how dedicated to the training I have become.  The wedding was open Bar, I told my wife I couldn't indulge too much due to needing to run on Sunday.  She looked at me like I was crazy, night out without kids and my concern was on running Sunday morning!!

Anyway to weigh on some past posts.  The graph on head wind was classic.  I went out for a long ride a few weeks back and felt I was doing good.  Then made the turn to head home and found the wind had been pushing me.  went from 19mph avg down to 14 in a  hurry.

Is it actually possible to complete a 100TT in roughly a minute?  I think my time has been around 2m30s.  I think tomorrow on my swim I will time accurately and see what I can do.

Finally I have a "C" race coming up on Saturday, its an adventure race that involves 3m canoe, 3m run and 17m bike.

It's nice to see a lot of people getting those Bricks workouts in.  I think there is a lot of value in doing them to help understand and prepare for that concrete legs feeling during a race.  I do them about once a month generally, and sometimes a more depending on my training schedule time requirements.

Ryan, nice job on the 100 TT.  A 1:24 is no joke.

Good luck to everyone else who takes up the challenge in the pool.  This challenge just reminded me that I need to do my 500 TT within the next couple of weeks.  I have had a goal to get this distance down to 7:00 by the end of this month.  I really need my daughter there to help me pace for this.  If I can have her in the water with me trying to lead the way I think it will give me a bit of a psychological shove to perform at a "closer" to race pace effort.

I took yesterday away from training.  It didn't start out that way but I got a call at 5:30 AM that a pole was broken from a drunk driver and off to work I went.  After finishing the job, my wife and I went shopping for a new camera and that took a while, then it was home for a haircut and there was no time left for any training.  I am hoping to get a short brick in tonight to play a little bit of catch-up.  I am not doing anything crazy this week with my HM here on Saturday.

I second the brick workouts.  One of the best things you can do is push hard for your bike ride and get out on wobbly legs for your run.  This will be very similar to your race for shorter distances.  Always takes me about a mile to get my legs running like I want.

As for that 7:00 100 yd goal, good luck!  I would love to see that for myself.  As of right now, I don't think it will happen for a little while at least.  I only see time improvements when I spend a lot of time in the pool and right now I'm not getting more than 6000 a week in max.  Also...open water swimming is coming soon and God knows I won't spend any more time in the pool than I need to.

Last night I knocked a tile tivet off the kitchen counter and it landed point first on my big toe.  OMG that hurt. I'm going to the doctor later today to get my toe x-rayed and see if I broke it.  Wish me luck.

Holy crap Bryan, that sucks dude.  You'll never look at one of those things the same again!!

Here's the small progress I've made building my bike.  Got the fork, handlebars, brake calipers, and pressfit bottom bracket in yesterday.  It's coming together!!! Definitely getting psyched!!

I like your work area.  Is that your house?  Or are you able to work on bikes at your place of employment?

(I think I will put exit signs and emergency lighting in my basement!)

I've done the 100 breast in 1:26.  Does that count for anything?

And a 100 IM in 1:20..

Yeah..that's my garage.  When we bought the house in October I thought it was funny that there were emergency exit lights....until the power went out and they were on for me to fire up the generator!!!  The previous owner over did everything.  That's rubber flooring in the picture.  It's also really nice as long as it's well swept and all that.  It's a major pain when it's covered with salt and sand from the NH winters.

Checking in - sorry I don't have time to catch up on all the posts I've missed. I was really sick and then very busy with work - and to be honest, it felt pretty good to let one of my many balls drop for a week.

But now I'm back and psyched to get back at it. I'm supposed to have a group ride this evening, but it is freezing cold here so we'll see if anyone other than me is dumb enough to show up.

Dude, your bike is hotter than Jennifer Aniston!!!  What kind of person are you posting this kind of material on here.  This is a family site..........or used to be. LOL  Someday I hope to have a fast ride like that.  In the meantime I'll put in the work to make me faster when I do get one of these ^^^

Speaking of bike work, O had my ride for today and it was pretty lousy out.  Cold and windy!!!  The wind gauge on weatherbug says 10 with 20mph gusts.  THATS BS!!!!  For a small portion of my ride I was down to 12-13 mph and I haven't gone that slow this year and I have had stronger winds to ride in a couple of times.

Jenna I hope you have a little better luck with your ride than I did.  And I am glad you are back into training and checking back in with the rest of us.  We need a little estrogen in the group.  Right now there has been a lot of testosterone flying with all the 100 TT talk going.  That said, I am about to up the anty by trying to hit a hard 500 TT within the next couple of weeks.

Hope you went and got in a ride Jenna.  And I'm waiting to hear about that 5k from Deb.  And that bike is SICK Jonathan, no excuses now!

A 1:26 breaststroke????  I've done almost no swimming this winter, so I'm hoping to get that with freestyle (just getting my excuses in ahead of time!).

I'm struggling a bit with motivation, so it's great to hear about all these bricks and hard workouts.  I had a very bad bike TT this morning, slower than last week, and I thought last week's time was so slow I'd have no problem improving.  Just gotta keep chipping away I guess.

Don't I know it....I'm just afraid to take her out in the crappy weather we have right now.  I'll be abusing my Caad9 until I get some nice days without wind and rain.  This is also my first build, so I want to get it right and I'm taking my sweet time.

There's nothing wrong with that time Matt.  This being your first year of triathlon and all.  Swimming is a pretty technical thing to get control of.  Make sure you take your time and get the proper techniques down early and it will be less of a fight for you later.

Yeah, I second this Matt.  Keep at it.  Get some quality time in the pool and learn the technique.  The time will fall right off.

TT complete 1:30.34, I looked back and that is a 28 sec improvement from one year ago.  Next the 500 TT.  BTW my daughter did a 1:05.04.  I told her I wanna swim like a girl.  All her friends laughed.

Johnathan seriously nice ride!

Deb we're waiting to hear how your first race went.
