and making me wonder if you read the original post - I didn't see anything in the original story about the 2 cars turning left trying to beat a light, but rather were proceeding when their left turn signal came on.

like how New York has made using a hand-held cellphone illegal while driving. 



Iv lived in NY before I moved to MN....No one obeys that law. Its pretty much a pointless law its impossible to enforce.


As someone who got a ticket for talking on a cell while driving in NY I can confirm that this law is enforced.

After rereading my post, I wasn't completely clear. The girl in the BMW was coming from the opposite direction and did run a red light. The cars turning left had a left turn (protected) arrow. And, they didn't rush into the intersection - didn't wait 3 seconds either - just nice leisurely acceleration. If the 1st car had gone quicker, the BMW would have likely passed between the two vehicles turning left and never hit anyone.
