I currently go running/cycling with the Garmin Etrex Vista, and I have to question the data on the runs. Is there any issues that you guys have seen with the Edge and running? I know it is a Cycling computer first, but how does it do with the distance on running?
I carried the Edge 305 on a recent run. It lost signal on my way to Central Park. I also put it in my pocket on the way to the park, but I'm not sure if that's what caused it because once I was in the park, I put it in my pocket for half the time and it seems to have tracked fine. My route has a lot of tall buildings on the way to Central Park, then there are the trees to deal with once I'm in the park.
You can see the data here:

You'll see how it cuts through blocks when it dropped the signal. You're right that it's a cycling device first, but for me, it seems to work just as well for running. The only thing I wonder about is the calories burned when I take it for a run. I would like to know if it uses a generic formula for calculating calories burned, or if the forerunner and edge 305's have different formulas.
