It can use GPS for (if it's set to Auto ), but it doesn't use the GPS for speed if a wheel size is entered. You already found it was set to 1785, so that was definitely causing the speed to be too low. When I bought my Powertap from Wheelbuilder, they pre-loaded some of the settings and device pairings for my Joule 2.0. Maybe your Garmin was set up before you got it? Edit: actually I just read the manual for the Garmin and it looks like it uses GPS to calculate the wheel size. So maybe when you did your first ride, you had a poor GPS signal and it thought you were riding a 650 wheel. Just a guess. Edited by spudone 2010-11-11 9:34 AM
