Subject: RE: California vs. Rhode IslandHousing for $120K in New England? It will be in some far away place and it will be a fixer-upper special. I have a 3 bedroom split level on a 1 acre lot, 70 miles west of Boston and it's valued at around $230K. Anything under 200K is gonna definitely need work or it's in a crummy, crime infested neighborhood. On the plus side, the cycling in central Massachusetts is fantastic. I can go out for a bike ride and on some routes, only see a car every 1 or 2 minutes. Lots of wide shouldered roads too. 35 miles east of me, half way to Boston is another ball game. Houses are gonna average well above 350K for a basic starter. If the housing market is an issue, combined with the weather, I'd say you'll be an unhappy camper. I've been on the indoor bike trainer since November and the roads are just barely getting doable, but it's mid March and the daytime temps are in the 30's...so you can do the math. Normally I don't get out riding until about mid-April so that's a solid 5 month trainer season. |
