16 miles? I'll never make it! Also the link from this website has the swim at 1055yards,
yet on the 3d website it has the swim as 800m? I know I'm easily confused but?

I just looked at the map they have posted for the bike course.  No way that's 16 miles, probably closer to 12.5 or so.  They don't have us going as far as either toll booth.  However, it does look like they're routing us up one of the most hellacious hills in Kensington which is on High Ridge Rd.

As for the swim, I'm betting its the same as the one I did before which was around 880 or so - who knows, maybe they're including the distance you run up to the transition area which is a couple of hundred yards.

If its the same course that it has been for the past couple of years then it will be 800m swim/12.5 mile bike with 3 hellacious hills, if I remember correctly-one by the farm center and then both ways on bruno road/3.1 mile run some on grass with a nice down hill finish.

If I can do this, and I did it last year, anyone can.  Come visit us in the blue KHS tent (GREYHOUNDS).  I want to be able to cheer for all of the BT'ers.

So, in preparation for my vacation of lounging in natural hot springs, I bought my first non-training swimsuit in years.  Needless to say, I also had a few "fun" tan lines that needed a bit of blending, so I worked from my patio yesterday.

I sure hope no one punches me on the swim.

Sat - Early AM, 60 miles or so.  5 laps.  I think I'll park outside of the park and start before 8.

Can I park in Kensington around 7 or so?

As your captain, I feel I should now step in and tell you both to go sit in the corner.  However, I am too busy cracking up so carry on.

Does anyone know if there is a packet pickup on Saturday, and what time?
I thought I saw there was a packet pickup on Saturday on their websitebefore,
but now I don't see it.  On the website it says Sunday 6-7:30am ONLY!
and then below, pickup Saturday to avoid long lines, but no time?

I don't know when we will swim together again.  You have gotten too good to train with me.  I was in the pool this week, where were you, oh right, getting a massage.

dtrimmer-welcome to the world of 3D races, land of confusing and misconstrued information on their website.  Good luck finding out about packet pickup.

7am, at the small gravel parking lot on Grand River, just off of Kensington Rd.  Meeting there because my other rider doesn't have a metro park pass.  He has a state sticker though.  We are riding 60 miles in IL, no Kensington hills for me.

Drop me a line if anyone plans to join in.

I emailed Kenny at 3D regarding the conflicting information (packet pick up, and the bike mileage)in the first email he sent out...he clarified that the YMCA owns the event and they will only have Sunday AM packet pick up.  The bike course mileage was also in dispute (he claimed the course had always been 16 miles ...um NOPE...WRONG!)  I  replied telling him I'd done the race 2 times and it was always a 20k and did follow the map on the website...could he please confirm. Well, he didn't email me back saying I was right, but a 3rd email from them was sent out and had the bike route at 20k again.  Sooooo....packet pick up on Sunday am only, and the bike is 12.4 miles of fun fun fun! :-)  Hope this info helps!
