Actually, this was my first peach pedal - I loved the course, but there were LOTS of people walking their bikes towards the end and sagging in. It was HOT HOT HOT.

Thanks for the info on the Pre-tri. See you next weekend!

I think Rkhosla26 means Tom. I participated even though I'm not racing Disco this year. Watch the bike ride. The shoulders on the sprint route are all messed up. There are many "patches," essentially long rectangular strips of chipseal, some with even more loose gravel on top. Don't get caught too far right or you may have trouble. It's really too bad, as most of that bike course had a nice asphalt shoulder (for those of you who ride over there). There is room, for the most part, just inside the white line, but you could get boxed in. The tire lane is still relatively smooth, although there was one a-hole in a pickup who didn't care to move over even an inch. Fortunately, I heard his loud dually coming and slipped back over the white line into the shoulder just before he passed me. My buddy riding behind me said it was pretty close. There are also some driveways which have shed a lot of dirt and gravel onto the shoulder to be aware of. Finally, for the first time in many times riding this route in various practices or tris, I had a mean ol' dog chase me. I'm surprised it hasn't happened before. This was on the return leg, but before the last big hill. Again, fortunately, there were no cars coming from behind (I didn't even look before swerving out - bad me) and I was able to pretty easily outrun the mutt.
These observations are just facts meant to inform, not scare anyone from the race. I wish I was racing it.
Have fun Disco Kings and Queens but be aware of your surroundings.

So is there anywhere after the race we can all meet up? I haven't personally "met" any BT'ers yet!

It could have been Dan, Tom's right hand man is named Dan.

It was definitely Tom. In fact, I'm not convinced Dan even exists. Dan E. Jones could be Tom's alias.

Danny's the one with a sense of humor that's not made of dry ice.

Just look for the Cornhusker fan not named Tom, that's Dan.

Looks like the weather will be on our side at race start- probably around low 70s. Of course, that will probably not hold for too long.

OMG I had a fantastic time at this race! LOVED IT! Haven't seen the split times yet, so will post a race report after those come out. VERY WELL put together and supported though!

It was a great "cool" Texas summer day. Perfect day for a triathlon. Dallas Athletes did a great job this year

Yes, I have to agree. It was a good day out there today.

The only glitch I noticed was when I fell on my face at the "dip" on the run course. Saw the warning signs, so I can't complain. ;-)

Results are up on Atomic's website.

Anyone know if you can pick-up an award if you placed in your age group, didn't relaize it and missed the awards cermony?

And just what is Atomic's website? I've been wondering where the results are...

Never mind, found it. Did WAY better than I thought on the run, but still lots of room for improvement.

You can try to email Dan Jones.  He still has mine from St. Pats.   Ihave sent him a few emails and discussed it in person (he does exist) the last two weeks.  He has promised to send it...

Great race though, if you missed it this year plan on it for next year.  Also I did the olympic but noticed my AG was not as competitive as usual.  Not sure if this was across the board but it might be a good opportunity to grab some hardware next year.

Great job out there BTers. I had the opportunity to watch the race having run El Scorcho just a few hours earlier. As much as I had wanted to be out there competing, the ol' bod would have cratered on the run. From my perspective watching - this was a huge race. DA seems to have learned from past mistakes. Any complaints on the length of the swim? True distance this time?
