Gingerbread Angels: The scariest biker group in Peep Town (Page 2)

Rode my trainer today as it snowed last night and roads well are a bit dicey. It was short easy aerobic ride as this is a rest week and I'm racing a 5K tomorrow.

My legs felt fantastic and my aerobic power felt super easy. It is really interesting how training load and what you did the days before effect current workouts. I did different cadence stuff going from 70, 80, 90, 100 RPM.

Bike:45m 49s  - 13.6 Mi out of 400...lots more riding to do this month.

My week is a big bike week..Tuesday is bike Time Trial...30 minutes as hard as I can go. If weather allows I'll do it on a course I race Time Trials on. I want to get so I can average 22.5 mph this year but being early season I will be lots slower than that. Plus doing it without others it is harder to push myself.

Then I have a day of hill repeats, my brick of ~40 miles, and a ride with friends where we normal do about 50 miles if weather allows and our schedules workout. By next Sunday I hope to have 150 miles minimum.

Who else is riding today? 

Lots of similarities -- I have a race tomorrow (half marathon) so I did a nice easy trainer ride today, 43m 26s.  I'm looking forward to a change in my training with a larger focus on biking, once the HM is behind me.  But my plans for this week are still up in the air -- a lot depends on how I feel after the HM. 

I feel almost guilty, everyone is racing tomorrow!  All of you have a fantastic race.

We have some awesome weather, just a wee bit of wind that was a hindrance.  I rode in shorts and actually had to find my regular cycling gloves - yeah.   Supposed to snow tomorrow.   

Lots of people out there.  I ended up doing my "medium" 2 hour loop with a little tacked on at the end.  Being it is only March, it was quite a bit slow of 2 hours.  Got in 2:17.  Also did a short 10 minute ride with my middle child and her class "mascot" Teddy B.

Shorts and regular cycling gloves March 1st...is amazing for CO.

Aren't we all slower this time of year even more so if you live up North. I've heard it has to do with less leaves on the tress, more wind both from nothing blocking them and here in MA the wind blows more, wearing more clothes, and other factors.

A couple years ago it upset me with winter slowness, now I know to expect it. It is strange that rides now I average in the 15's in 6-8 weeks will be in the 17's even though I have been training consistently.

Hi team - please find attached to this post the spreadsheet for updating the teams weekly totals.

The lovely Dee is following me around uploading these to google spreadsheet so the team/team captain can chose to either use google spreadsheet or the physical spreadsheet for weekly logging 

(From a captains point of view google spreadsheet is easier because each team member updates their own details so its just a motivational and reminder role of the captain!) 

Maybe Dee could get some sleep and do the rest another day? 

Hi I'm Chris and I live in NH where we are celebrating our 108+ inches of snow.  This is my wind up to the Mooseman which is in my backyard.  I'm in for 15 hours of the computrainer.

Welcome Chris.  Sorry about the snow thing, but I wouldn't know anything about that.  It's a beautiful 70 degrees here this afternoon. 

The Mooseman looks interesting...

I'm all for using the Google spreadsheets.   

If we don't have a team captain, I'd be willing to try it this month.

I say go for it and congrats, captain.

Mooseman is such a great race.  Which are you doing HIM or Oly? Very cool you live close and can train on the course. I bet riding those hills once weather allows will make you stronger and faster cyclist!

Cold rides build character I say 

How cold was it? Worst I've ridden in I get ice cream cold type headaches and brake going down hill which I normally never do as the wind is to cold on my face. Those rides tend to be brief like hill repeats or aerobic rides on rest week. 

I'm doing the OLY solo and the bike leg as part of a relay in the HIM.  It will be a long fun weekend!  As soon as the weather allows I will be all over the hills... panting and sweating lol
