Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: Stay Puft Marshmallow Men Hi there fellow Stay Pufts! I'm Kim from SF and love riding my new (used but beautiful) bike. Will get out there for a good ride tomorrow (my day off) and probably ride over the GG Bridge to Sausalito. Training for Auburn Olympic distance in May, so this is great to get me out on my long rides. That with my 2x a week spin class should be good until it is lighter in the mornings. Let's all get out there and bike lots! |

Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: Stay Puft Marshmallow Men I suppose I should introduce myself: Sal. Been doing marathons for 4 years, triathlons for 3. Did my 1st Olympic distance last season. Shooting for my 1st half iron this year (mid-June). I love biking (outside), but putting 2-3 hours on a trainer is going to drive me crazy. I'm about to just go for it and start partially bike commuting to work (30 miles one way). CA is my getaway home. We spent 2 weeks in San Luis Obispo last summer with my wife's family and on the way to the SFO airport drove up Hwy 1 across the GG bridge and spent time in Sausalito and Muir woods. I SO want to be there right now, but I guess my kids are young enough where I still need to make sure I 'provide for the family' here in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul). If I start bike commuting, I will definitely up my bike goal (7 hours), but until I work myself out of SADness (seasonal affective disorder...yeah, there really is such a thing, and no, I probably don't really have it), I'll stick with 7. Com'n SPRING! EDIT: 1700 yards in the pool this morning after a week off from the flu. Planning on an hour on the treadmill doing a hill workout, then TOMORROW, I do plan on getting on the trainer... Expert 892 | Subject: RE: Stay Puft Marshmallow Men Nice intro, sparco. I currently live in the Presidio of SF, work in San Rafael (Marin), and spend numerous weekends at our rental in Nevada City, Ca (Sierra foothills). This is my first season of triathlons and I'm really diggin' the workout mix. It seems to help avoid overuse injuries... if I'm smart about my workouts. I plan on cycling to work (17 miles one way) 2-3 days per week, hopefully starting tomorrow. I used to run quite a bit back in my, ummmm, younger days (numerous 10k's, and one marathon - Burlington, Vermont - in 3:19). I'm originally from Vermont, spent far too many years in Michigan on Lake Superior, and love to play in the National Parks; specifically Sequoia/Kings Canyon and Yosemite. The triathlon training is eroding my telemark ski time for now, but I'll get some backcountry trips in soon. Looking forward to hardening up my marshmellow-ness. Happy training! |

Veteran 224 Denver | Subject: RE: Stay Puft Marshmallow Men I'm amused that I'm on a marshmallow team this month! Last month I was a rock (swimming), but fortunately I haven't been swimming like a rock for a while. Unfortunately "marshmallow" describes my current cycling fitness, but I'm working on slowly building it back up. I'm about to buy a cyclocross bike. My main bike right now is a tri bike, but it's going to be a while before my hip injury allows me to ride in the aero bars, and my mtn bike is about 15 years old and getting decrepit. Even this is going to have to stay on the trainer for a while... No cycling today, just a short-ish swim. |
