Ok one more question into the loop.  Doesn't each state have to recognize marriages originating in other states.  If one state allows gay marriage and a gay married couple moves to a state that has something like prop 8 how is their marriage affected?

If I'm not mistaken, under the Defense of Marriage Act states are not required to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

Correct...from what I understand DOMA allows states to not recognize same sex marriages performed in other states...but some states, I believe NY, all tho not legal to marry, would recognize my current status...So the another question I have is, if the invalidate my marriage in CA and I move to NY...and NY recognizes marriage performed in other states, is my marriage still invalid...I mean, the wording just says that California will not recognize it.

I also want to say, thanks for the out pouring of support from people here on BT.  It really does help.

I almost understand why people go postal now.  I actually feel violent toward the Yes on 8 people.  I would never act on that, hopefully....but I can see where that rage comes from.  I keep a lot of things buried deep inside me and it builds up.  Normally I am very level headed...good in a crisis kind of thing...but right now...I better shut up.
