Will never eat okra (even thought I have lived in the south for 21 years). But I can be a Fighting Okra. We will slime the other teams. We will deep fry them. Batter up! i was thinking KENDRA since were ARE the Fighting Okras and all that eating one serving of OKRA should be 'required' as part of the challenge. then again, after reading your post, maybe not. stacieb ps. id rather eat artichokes anyways..... I have 1 more tri for the season on the 27th of Sept. So hoping this challenge will keep me motivated! I have been slacking on the training. I work part time at the YMCA as a group fitness instructor, preschool/youth sports and education instructor and run the tri-club. GO OKRA! Hey Kim great to meet you! Love that avatar! Have a great month everyone! I love okra, fried, stewed, it's good stuff! But, perhaps an acquired taste! |

I found the DVD helped me more, maybe because I am a visual person, I like to see examples, see the people swimming. I like some of the theory in the book, like swimming all your life and always a learner, but I get bogged down with all the terms, zipper catch release, catch glide zipper, triple zipper glide, zipper zipper glide glide, etc... I think the minutia of it got to me, . I just want to swim. It's well work the read and the watch, it helped me. |

Elite 3913 far northern CA | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge I was tired today. I did not get my planned swim done. I did teach my Spinning class, though! It was a good class. I was planning on doing a sprint tri this weekend, however, my kitty cat is not doing very good. He is very, very old and I'm feeding him all the time. I don't want to depend on anyone else to do it while we go out of town for a few days. Poor guy. I will, at least, try to get an OWS done over the weekend in addition to my regular workouts. Yeah team!!! We're gonna kick some booty!!! |

JEN. i hear ya about the minutia. i was only two or three chapters in and i was feeling bogged down. just give me the basics, tell me what to do, and let me go and swim.... im sure its not as complicated as it 'reads'.... i was thinking about bypassing the books, and just getting the DVDs. like you, im visual too. and when it comes to learning something like swimming, i learn best by watching some 'live' and then doing. the Y is offerring a stroke clinic next week - so i signed up. its all the MAH-ster swimmers from the team. im seriously going to immerse myself underwater and watch their stroke from that vantage point. onward ho! stacieb |
