I'm seriously considering IMCDA for my first full in 2012.  The late June date works for me because I want the bulk of my training done before the kids get out of school.  Plus,  I've heard it's a beautiful course. 

My second choice is IMLP.  WTC just announced two new races in the NE (Quebec & NYC) so that may make it easier to get into LP next year.  Maybe, maybe not?

I guess I have until June 27th to decide.

You'll have longer than that.  IM CDA will be open for a while.  The big question is:  will IMLP be full from on site registrations (as has been the case in the past)?

Totally agree...for the past three years CDA it has taken around 2 months for CDA to fill up

Hello I am in the same boat never done a race of any kind before. Signed up for 2012 IM-Louisville and WHite lake NC HIM.  Going to be an insane year, can't wait.

MReilly, Welcome!

2010 was my first year in triathlons and I started with sprints and finished with the international distance race in Pinehurst as the last race of the season.

This year, White Lake was my first HIM and then finished Louisville as my first IM.  That plan seemed to work out pretty well for me.

I would suggest one of the early season sprint races as a test before White Lake.  In Charlotte you could choose from Cool Breeze or the Huntersville Triathlon.  If you are in the eastern part of the state, you could do the Azalea Triathlon on the UNC Wilmington campus.  I did the Azalea race this year and had a great time.  I do not know anything about the Charlotte races.
