Subject: RE: GMAT aids?I took the Gmat a couple of years ago and did pretty well, although my scores were very skewed (and not towards Math unfortunately). Anyway, I was really thrown by the computer based test. Get a cd and practice. Every test taking skill you've ever learned gets thrown out the window. Practice the essay sections. I didn't because I am typically strong on any sort of essay test and I must have missed some key things the computer was looking for. My scores there weren't awful, but I expected to easily get high ones and they came back perfectly average. (Currently praying that there aren't a ton of mistakes in this post so that everyone points out exactly why I didn't score well.) I thought I did horribly on the math. I didn't do as well as I hoped, but after taking the math section I was debating not submitting my scores. I had studied pretty thoroughly because I don't use math ever at work, so it had been 10 years since I had to do even an algebra problem. Since the questions get progressively harder I was well into math that I hadn't seen since trig and pre-calc in high school. It was scary, but apparently the computer took me to that math because I had done fine on earlier sections. So don't panic if you get into questions you can't answer, the way the test is run it just means you are doing well. Edited by ekl26 2006-03-14 10:57 AM
