I'm about to start an HIIT(high intensity interval training) program which has you above LT a lot of the time. So it'd be nice to know if I'm raising my roof and ceiling so to speak. (1) But, see, that's the thing; you can't really raise it a significant amount, even through training. (2) Besides, VO2Max isn't really the limiter for the majority of people; it's simply time and dedication to training. I agree with (2). Not with (1). There's plenty of pretty direct evidence that it can be increased in response to training. OTHO, if we take care of (2), we should be taking care of (1) at the same time.
It can be increased, but not by a large amount. At least, that has always been my understanding.
Although, the formula is based on weight, so if your weight changes by a decent amount that can have an impact. |
