Member 41 | Subject: RE: Marble Falls Triathlon : Official Thread Indeed, good luck to all! I'll be wearing a blue top and black shorts with a blue running hat (though I don't expect to be wearing the top during the swim). I also wear orange swimming goggles. Come introduce yourself if you like. Cheers, Eric |

Member 41 | Subject: RE: Marble Falls Triathlon : Official Thread Well I hope everyone had a better race than mine. I suffered my first DNF in any race, ever (my name didn't even end up on the race results, mercifully). Had a pretty bad swim, a slow-ish T1, rode up 281 to 71, finished the 71 piece and was just back on 281 when I ran over the rumble strips in the shoulder, slammed my aero bars down, which cinched my front brake, and I went over the bike (really it felt like the bike just disappeared from under me). Fortunately a race volunteer (Sean) was right there on the other side of 281 and he came over to help immediately. A woman who was racing stopped to get my bike (which was in the middle of 281) and I had dragged myself off of the shoulder asap after I stopped sliding. Sean called another volunteer who picked my bike and me up and took us back to transition. An EMT cleaned out the more severe part of my road rash and put something on it. I waited around for a bit, decided I felt ok but wanted to get going back home. I seem to be ok today - I've got a pretty nice road rash across my backside and my left shoulder is extremely painful (went to the dr. and had x-ray today to be sure), but I'm nearly certain I didn't break or dislocate anything. Hoping for no major rotator cuff or other injury. Ugh. Sorry I didn't get to meet any of you all. My next race is the TriRock Austin on Labor Day and I should be more than ready for that when it comes. Congrats to everyone who finished the race! Cheers, Eric |

I remember seeing you standing by a volunteer. I ask the lady that got your bike, if everyone was OK. She thought you would be ok. Good luck I broke my collerbone in a bike accident it sucks. Too a speedy and succesful recovery. See you at Austin Tri Rock. I am doing the Oly. |

Expert 1557 Austin, TX | Subject: RE: Marble Falls Triathlon : Official Thread Sorry to hear the news Eric. What a tough way to go, and I hope everything checks out OK and you are back to normal soon. Road rash is not fun, so make sure and keep it dry and clean so it heals up quick. |

Member 41 | Subject: RE: Marble Falls Triathlon : Official Thread Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. My x-rays came back negative (no break, no dislocation), and my arm/shoulder is definitely feeling better. I was so thankful to the woman who stopped to get my bike - very awesome of her. She offered to stay with me but I told her I thought I was ok and she should keep racing. I was impressed b/c every person who rode by after the crash after that asked if I was ok or if I needed anything. I'm still in shock that I wasn't more seriously hurt. Yes, it sucked and I'm definitely sore, but the fact that I didn't break even a finger is incredible (my left ring finger is seriously purple). BTW, my bike, amazingly, appears to be completely fine. I can't even find a scratch on it. |
