mr2tony - 2012-09-07 11:15 AM One time, in the Canyonlands of Utah, we were told that we were the first people to ever bring folding chairs with us to the campsite, which was a solid four-hour hike into the middle of nowhere. I doubt that assertion, but that's what we were told.

Those chairs came in very handy as I seem to recall, so I don't care if we were the first people to bring them in... it was worth it!

Oh, remember to bring the supplies for s'mores!  Definitely a necessity in my book!

Finally!!! I was think'n come on people camping=s'mores

Those mentioning beer are either car camping or are really hard core.

Real camping involves a heavy pack and a long walk before setting up the tent.  Beer is too heavy to carry.  Wild Turkey is much better.

Touche

When I go ride later today, I will be riding right by the source of the beer.  Depending on the direction of the wind, the malty smell of brewing beer can be quite powerful.  Not my type of beer, but the smell is at time quite enticing.

Most of what everyone else said depending on the location and type of camping.  I second the trash bag and add one of those dishwasher sponges that have a handle you can fill with dish soap.  This is the portable dishwasher.  I usually put a small ziplock over the sponge for transporting.  This is good for backpacking and car camping.

The stupidest thing I ever packed for camping was a flashlight to go camping in summer in Alaska.
