pga_mike - 2013-01-05 4:20 PM Just don't fall too in love to train your dog.

Don't worry! I had him on my lap in the recliner on the first day and he placed his tiny claws on the keyboard. He looked so sweet laying there until he got up and ripped 3 keys off on his way . So already, no puppy on the furniture! And does anyone know how to reattach the keys?

He is learning to sit nicely before we come inside from potty time which is a pain because it is cold and snowy here and at 6 weeks old he has to go out A LOT!

as far as books I am not sure. I would recommend a good puppy manners class to start with. If my wife and I ever get a puppy (versus the 2-5 year old dogs we get from the humane society) that is what we do. As is our last dog from the Humane society did all the classes we could with her as she needed it due to issues she had when adopted. plus there is no substitute for hands on work with a knowledgable and trusted trainer.

Good idea and he needs a little help with manners. He sleeps a lot right now but when he is awake and feels playful he goes crazy for feet, ankles and little girls in twirly dresses! I was thinking he is probably still too little for any kind of class but I'll start asking around.

My humane society has classes for puppies as young as 8 weeks for socialization and starting on training.
