LOL @ token male. Thank you and I will attempt a wall handstand this week and see how it feels. Can't wait to be healed up, miss my workouts and such.

I also saw on the first page, switch, you talked about some yoga stances. I don't know any of the names of them but I tried a few before I hurt my arm/shoulder and it was a workout! The stances tired me out but I liked it, felt good. I don't know any males IRL that have done yoga though, lol.

Yoga can be a very challenging workout.  When someone says they don't like yoga because it's too easy, I tell them they haven't been to the right class.  In peak fitness, the yoga class I go to kicks my butt:)

I know lots of guys who do yoga, but I used to teach;)  My current instructor is a dude.   Maybe it depends on where you live?  Actually, my husband does yoga here and there, and now I'm gonna brag on him for a sec.

So last night we were doing our family handstand practice--total circus, btw--and my husband (who has amazing strength to bodyweight ratio) decided to try pressing into a handstand from "crow".  Here's what "crow" looks like:

And guess what?  He did it! Punk went right up into a freestand.  He didn't hold it very long--now he wants to work on that--but he did it.  Amazing.  This is also the guy who got the one handed handstand first try. I'll try to talk him into letting me take some pics of him and post them.

It was hard to feel accomplished after that, but I did get an 8sec freestand last night.

NO WAY! WOW. That is crazy core and shoulder strength/balance. Impressive!

I can do the pose that's similar as the headstand, with your legs on your elbows/tri's, then go up into a straight headstand. Dang.

I'm so impressed!

I worked on my handstands all day yesterday, intervals throughout the day. Wasn't holding over 5sec, mostly 3-4 (I must be tired). I did a 'V' with my legs several times and was able to hold it for 2-3sec.

I think I need to do some practice on a wall for form and locking out my shoulders, that will help. Didn't have a free door/wall space, I was doing them outside.

Right?  I can do the crow to headstand too, but I can't even begin to generate the strength to do the handstand version.  I mean, I can't even really begin to conceive it, initiate it, nada.  He's such a stinker.

"Best" part? He NEVER goes to a gym or "trains" in any capacity, just does farm stuff and work.

A couple months ago we had seen a really cool bodyweight strength training vid (this one, it's sweet, btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POdzasJklxw) and he decided to try the one armed, one legged push-up, got that first try too.  It really is kinda sickening.

NO WAY!

And on a bridge?

Of course you did:)

I didn't even know you were running a marathon!  At mile 25 all I want to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other to get to the finish line.

Now I feel like a big ol' lazy pants for not wanting to practice mine yesterday after my tiny little ten miler.

Seriously awesome, strong work.  That it would even cross your mind to do it--let alone do it--says a lot about the kind of person you are:)

Yeah, I kinda just go do them on whims.

I found another good article! I'm glad our hobby is gaining some press!

Hey Handstanders, how's it goin?

How is everybody doing on their goals?  Making some progress?

I haven't practiced every single day, but almost, and I've been kind of amazed at how quickly the improvements have come.  I think part of it for me has just been getting more comfortable with being upside down.  My girls' handstands are getting really good!

Comet, each time I see your handstand at mile 25 it makes me smile.  I liked "safe" too:)

My injury is like 85% better but now staying right about there. I did try a pullup, bb curl, and handstand and I can do all three, but I can tell I am not healed up yet. So hopefully I continue to heal because I don't want to go to the doctor. And I am taking it easy to not cause anymore injury. This past week has not been the best for my hands either, cut both of them but they are healed up just about. If all goes well later this week I will start to do some rehab work. Just have to keep moving forward.

Good job on everyone else's training and progress!

How's your injury?

How's everyone coming along? I haven't really practiced this week like I should. I'm going to hit it hard for the last 10 days!!

Yeah, I've bumped up practice in the home stretch, though I have a hamstring thing that is making the kick up a little tenuous.  Dang.

I can do some walking in the grass--four steps pretty consistently.  I'm trying to practice turning in a circle now, just for fun.

I haven't done a timed wall stand since the first day, but I'm guessing that should be better, just from HS practice in general.  My freestand is much, much better.  Can pretty consistently hit 6-8 seconds, but once in a while I'll get it just right and can go +10.  Would like to be able to feel confident and consistent about that.

My girls have been doing this with me, and their handstands are great now.  As with most things, I enjoy watching their progress more than my own :)

My injury is getting better and thank you for asking! It still is not 100% but is improving. I was told by my old physical therapist to be light duty so have not done anymore handstands. But I have been running a few times a week and im improving! I have never been good at running, I had a friend that ran that told me about this site but for some reason I kept putting running off. Now I am glad I started because i want better cardio.

Wow sorry I went off topic---back on topic. I hope you two do well and camt wait to see the end peogress!
