Hi ladies. Thought I'd take the time to tell a little more about myself.
Hmm, what to say. Already mentioned that I'm 27, living in Upstate New York. Live with my boyfriend of 7 years and a tank full of tropical fish. I'm in the middle of changing careers. Quit my job as an engineer after only a couple of years in the workforce, and went back to nursing school. I'm almost done with nursing school, will graduate in May with my RN. Finally. Yay!
Am enjoying nursing so far. Working with patients, rather than being stuck behind a computer seems like a much better fit.
My motivations for doing triathlon are to feel like an athlete, and to get healthier and lose weight. I'm about 60 lbs overweight, so in my training log, you'll see me tracking calories
(I have been using a separate site - MyFoodDiary - for this, for about a year, and have lost 15 lbs so far.
), and adjusting my running so as not to hurt my knees. I practice the Chi Running technique. For swimming, you might also see comments about Total Immersion swimming technique, which I have been practicing since this summer.
My plan is to go slow and steady with this. To adopt the triathlete lifestyle of integrating diet, sleep, workouts, in order to live healthfully. I'm not terribly competitive, so will be doing my first couple of sprint tri's just to finish. I can worry about getting faster once I have this habit fully ingrained.
I look forward to taking this journey with you.
