Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Team 8 Thread El Ocho? Eightball Death? 8-Ball Massacre? Nah, sounds like we're eating lamb fries. Pffffff ... well, if no one else chimes in, looks like those of us who have checked in will duke it out for the names! No hurry, really. It's not like our un-namedness will make us any less cool--or victorious. Bunny, first, GOOD LUCK ON THE CERT EXAM! Second, why don't you be team leader, and I can step in for the last part of the challenge. Who's gonna be cheerleader? Just to let you know ... everyone gets a job around here ... Job #1 is to put in for the challenge, Job #2 is to help your teammates get to their goals, too (that's why it's a TEAM) ... HOW you do that is up to you (but I've also been known to assign these things!) Cheerio! |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Team 8 Thread What about "The 8 Team" as a play on "The A Team?" Thinking hurts! LOL I just got a call from the Y for private swim lessons. I have "lessons" with Coach Husband tonight. He's going to be gone for the next 8 days (which covers next week) and I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and accept the Y lessons (they're not free). Decisions, decisions. Whoops! Forgot to say, I don't know what I want my "job" to be, but I'm all for cheering on everyone all the time Edited by MrsUSMC 2007-11-01 3:08 PM |

Member 28 | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Team 8 Thread Hi all. I am sorry I am late on this...I stumbled across this thread. I am a Challenge newbie, so please forgive me. My name is Sandi, and I live in the Midwest. Milwaukee, Wisconsin to be exact. I have been on BT for the summer and got to training with some locals. We call ourselves Tri Donkai. It's all about Donkeys in this group. Don't ask me why, it just gets us going! This is the reason for the donkey avatar. I have been a marathoner for 4 years, and a triathlete for 2. I love it. It keeps me happy! I love training, and having goals, and I love competing. I am really into fitness. I teach Pilates at our local gym and also going for my personal training certification on Dec 10th. Goals for this month are: 10 hours of working out / week 1 extra Pilates class/ week (not my own) And how did I get into this crazyness? I volunteered at IM WI and said, I am going to do an IronMan. Granted at the time I plugged my nose to go under water. But I signed up the following week at the gym for Adult swim class and I guess the rest is history. IM WI 2009. Have a great day!!!!! |

Second, why don't you be team leader, and I can step in for the last part of the challenge. Thanks, Yanti! I'm sure I'll do fine on the exam, but the perfectionist in me wants to do better than everyone else who took the class with me since I was the only woman. LOL That sounds fine with me on the team leader. I'll keep the spreadsheet up to date during the first 3 weeks and then hand it off to you for the final week. I won't be able to report in my stats for the last week until I'm back on 12/2 because I refuse to pay the outlandish price for internet access that they charge on the ship. LOL The friend I'm cruising with is a runner and we've pledged to one another to get up at 8:15am each day, regardless of how late we stay up partying, to get out and run or swim. Now we'll just have to see if we hold to that. He's running the Philly half on 11/18, so he'll be doing shorter distances while we're on the cruise, so that should work out well since I still only do short distances. |

Extreme Veteran 393 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Team 8 Thread Hi everyone! I've been traveling for work this week and haven't had time to check in until now! So, here's the nitty gritty: - Your real name (if you wish) Ooo I like easy questions - my name is Laura - Where you're located Right now Scranton, PA, but next spring the Marine Corps will be changing that (DH is an active duty Marine - so far it looks like we'll be headed to Quantico, VA) - Tri/athletic experience I played just about every sport growing up and then ran x-country and track in high school. Didn't do much running in college but got back into it a few years back when then future-DH was in Iraq. Took some additional time off from running after he got home to buy a house and get married, and then got back into running seriously in August 2006. Took ANOTHER running hiatus due to arthroscopic knee surgery in Jan of this year and started swimming and biking in May to get in shape and stay sane til I could start running again (which wasn't til June). For some crazy reason I thought I'd try to train for a triathlon... So I completed my first sprint tri in July and LOVED it. I did 2 more, in August and September. Since then my knee problems (this time around, ITBS) have flared up again and I'm currently hoping to avoid another surgery. - Goals for the month/what you're working toward My goal for this month is to swim 15,000 yards, which should be easily doable since I don't think I'll be doing as much running as I'd like. - How you got into all this crazy business to begin with! Who's crazy? What's crazy? I see nothing crazy about tris, BT, or this challenge! (Wait...maybe I AM crazy) Looking forward to a great challenge! |

Expert 851 Oceanside, CA | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Team 8 Thread Hi Laura and Sandi and welcome to the group. Laura I think we've exchanged PMs before DH just received an offer of orders to the Pentagon but turned them down. Yay! Okay fealess leader ma'am. You can mark off one of my swims! We had a power outage at work today and I got to leave an hour early, so I've already been to the training tank and put in 250 meters in 16 minutes. I am worn out and feel like I could eat a horse! I forgot how hungry you get after swimming! The Tri Corps....well you can't argue with that! LOL Edited by MrsUSMC 2007-11-01 6:31 PM |

Have you selected one yet? If not, you'll need one. Each week, your Team Captain will fill out the spreadsheet, marking your progress towards your GOALS. The "week" will run Saturday to Sunday. (This will allow you to cram in all those weekend sessions!) I will start a thread called "Nov Challenge Team Leaders Thread." Please post your team's results there by Monday evening each week. (Sunday is fine, if you have them ready. But I figured I'd give you the extra day, in case you need to To attach a file to a post: While writing a post, look at the bottom of the box. You'll see options to include a signature and enable emoticons. Directly below that is "Attach a file after posting." Check that box. You will then be able to attach your spreadsheet to your post. If you have questions, or need better instructions about this, feel free to ask. (Contact me via the original November Challenge thread, at the very top of the screen. I won't be checking your thread often, so if you ask me here, I may not see it.... Or, you can always PM me. That'll work, too.) And most of all..... GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! I hope every one of us meets his/her goals! Dee Attachments ---------------- Team8 tracking sheet.xls (30KB - 17 downloads) |
