MORNING!!!
I to have weigh in tomorrow as well, and i am hoping for a MINUS for sure!! The past 6 weeks it feels like i just cannot get a hold of what i need to be doing diet wise. I JOURNALED EVERYTHING this week! That is a big step for me before I was a MON-Fri at 4pm kinda journaler LOL!!! BUT I am turning over a NEW leave and getting back to program with the journaling.

GOOD LUCK ON WI TOMORROW!!!

Hey folks, I'm going to reach out for some help from you all.

I'm really struggling with the weight loss thing - bad, seriously - this morning I weighed myself and I weighed the most I have weighed in 4 years - ARGH!

Is it really possible to gain 6 lbs in 4 days?

I started off the week well - but it's been going downhill, I didn't think I had been that 'bad' but I haven't been logging and well - the scale sure told a story this morning

I have a lot going on right now and I think I'm using food as a crutch - I've been working out.

excuses, excuses I know

at any rate, I could use and inspire, a KITA whatever you got!

thanks

Well I TOTALLY feel your frustration and I will share with you what two things my leader said to me last week that got me back into the "program" that I thought I had been doing but really i was just going through the motions.

1) Don't be on program just on the easy days..... be on program everyday!

2) Although no one can go back for a new beginnning, we CAN GO FORWARD and write a NEW ENDING.

That second one really hit the nail on the head for me. All this time I had been focusing on the 20-30 pounds I had gained back from that point when i was only 16 pounds from GOAL. I was constantly telling myself WHY WHY did you let this happen you could have lost those 16 !! I never focused on the fact that I still to this day lost 62 pounds, and I that in its self is a great accomplishment. So I am not looking back to that girl I was on my wedding day anymore, I am looking forward to the HEALTHY and STRONG athelete that I am becoming. I keep reminding myself of all the things I am now that I was not at that time in my life when i was "thinner", instead of reminding myself of how far I have to go to get back to that place. No more old place, I am going to a new one, a better one.

So I think it comes down to a matter of having something snap you back. You know the program, you know you can do it, it is just a matter of flipping that switch in your head to say " I AM going to write everything down" or whatever it is that you need to do.

So maybe we should start a goal for our thread, like the month of december is JOUNRALING, or Positive talk, etc. So kind of non-weight loss related goal but in th long run it is related.
Ok I will shut up now LOL!!!! I hope that helps a little bit!!! J

Thanks Jana!

Those are very good words of wisdom and just what I needed to hear.

I REALLY like the idea of setting a goal for the month of December - I know we're part way into it - but that's no reason we couldn't start

Almost all of us are coming up on our WI day - or, the start of a new WW week - I say, let's do it!

What are your thoughts about reporting it?

well i guess it depends on the goal we set, I think with the holidays coming up we should do journaling. So we can all be accountable. When you report your WI for the week you would report how many of those days you journaled and at the end of the month the person with the least amount of journaling has to use some kind of strange or horrible picture for their posting pic???
What do you think about that? I am not sure it was just the first thing that came to mind. The "punishment" is the hardest to come up with i think LOL.

Any ideas from anyone else??

I think that's a great start!  I really like journaling being the goal - that seems to be the most difficult for a lot of us -

I'm wondering if there's a way to use our BT logs to help with the journaling so it would be right out there for everyone to see?  hmmmmm, food for thought anyway!

I've been paying the online WW fee for about three months and as you said I was only logging my foods during the week (the easy days) and ignoring the weekends...

well... when you're not writing them or entering them online it's easy to grab a cookie (or two) or grab a tablespoon (or two) of ice cream, or have a beer (or two or three)

when you don't see those points adding up, it's SO SO easy to eat more freely - so what i've promised myself (whether I follow through or not is another story) is too make sure this weekend and each one after that, I will find time to get online and enter my foods...

I've got to or else I'm just wasting $$$$

Do you guys do WW Online? Meetings? Written journals?

Maybe somehow we can touch base online over the weekend at the same time and check on each other... not sure how we can do different time zones...

Beth, I'm so sorry you're struggling, but I'm glad you're reaching out for help.

A journaling "challenge" sounds like a great idea; however, WW is all about rewarding not punishing, so I'd really like to NOT see a punishment, so to speak.

I am an avid journaler. The good, the bad and the ugly. I get 29 points and I have had some 50+ days

I'm a monthly pass member, so the etools are free for me and that's where I do my journaling. I love looking up the points online and being able to put in a recipe I have and see what the points are for a serving. I haven't even looked at the nutrition stuff on BT so can't answer about the tracking there.

ok so it is good to get all the feedback on the challenge. So maybe we could say that the challenge is to journal faithfully through the month of december ( and every month after for that matter but for challenge sake just december??). We will just post on the thread if we are having trouble with journaling etc. No punishments.

I am not familar with BT's logger. I have to physically WRITE verything down even though I am at etools all day cause if I do etools then at home I do not! lol

So it won't be like a fitness challenge with winners and losers it is just a self challenge. The reward being weight loss through accountability.

What about that?

I do WW at work.  I used to subscribe to eTools, but with a kid in college, I've been trying to avoid any expenses that aren't absolutely necessary.

I love etools, but right now - I'll stick with my excel spreadsheet - I just need to be diligent about it.

Terri, good point about the reward/punishment - maybe we should think of a way to reward the success of successful journaling

I also like the idea of checking in - with each other

thanks you guys!  this is just what I needed

HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU GAIN 6 LBS. IN 4 DAYS?

NOT TO PRY BUT ARE YOU POSSIBLY DEALING WITH THAT MONTHLY WOMAN'S PROBLEM?

I KNOW THAT DRIVES MY WIFE CRAZY! SHE THINKS THAT SHE RETAINS MORE H20 AT THAT TIME OF THE MONTH...

JUST A THOUGHT.

WE SHOULD SOMEHOW TRY TO POST OVER THE WEEKENDS AND CHECK ON EACH OTHER...

DON'T GET TOO DOWN ON YOURSELF!

I love my etools!  Since I'm paying for it monthly, it makes me log in daily and track even when I'm not eating what I should.  There's just something about seeing it in front of me that I ate 3 peanut butter cookies for dinner last night.  Yea, bad night.  Bad week, actually.  But seeing it helps me focus on what I should be eating.  Each day is like a clean slate to make the right choices!  Plus, I like the smiley faces that show up when I've had my water or dairy or when I exercise.  I'm in for journaling EVERYTHING I eat this month!

LOLOL!

nope, that's not it - I do think I'm retaining a bunch of water for whatever reason - I've had to eat out quite a bit this week and that always seems to do it

I doubt that it's really a 6lb gain, but all the same it was kind of a wake up call - I've been monkeying around for 3 months now - down 2, up 1, down 3, up 2 - you get the picture.......

I'm trying not to get too down - it's just been kind of a rough week

thanks

How about buying yourself something that you wanted (but didn't receive) at an after-Christmas sale, maybe some clothing in a smaller size because you will have lost weight from journaling so faithfully this month!

Beth, I've had those weight gains, too.  I gained 8 lbs in 4 days one week this summer, and it was all because I didn't drink my water.  As soon as I drank my water again, those 8 lbs disappeared (suprisingly) in only 4 days.  Go get a glass right now!

BAM!  You are sooooo Right, I was thinking about it and I have not been good about drinking water - actually that is pretty unusual for me

I've got a big cup of herbal tea (its freezing here!) and a big glass of water!  I'm set

I am still alive! PC died on Sunday so I have been out of touch. I am back now...

Welcome Maxmattmick (did I get that right?) A guy, interesting.

Beth, remember there are 3500 calories in a pound, to gain 6 you would have needed to consume an extra 21,000 calories. I doubt you did that (although you would not believe what I see)

I was up .4 this week, but expected it with the crazy weekend I had.

I HATE to track. I lost my weight by using the calculator that was offered before e-tools was available. I do what I call the FLORE plan, eat Core foods, but track them so I don't over eat.

Welcome back!

I have to laugh because the 21,000 calorie intake comment was almost exactly the same as one that someone left in my inspires   GMTA!

Ok, so I weighed 3 lbs less when I got home then I did this morning (yes I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself multiple times a day)

I got my water in today thanks to a timely reminder from Laurie.

I know I'll get back down - I'm just frustrated because I keep telling myself that after 13 weeks I should have been able to get back to my goal weight and I know in my heart that I haven't been following plan so, I know I have no one to blame

thanks again everyone!

This thread has been helpful to me because I stepped on the scale today and almost fell off because I registered a 4.5# gain (172) ...now I HAVE been eating lots of popcorn this week, and I missed a couple of workouts, but that's rough!

I'll be journaling and drinking lots of water today!
