Lisa,

Since you were a swimmer in highschool and a great runner theses days, why are you looking for a relay at High Cliff? Throw in some biking and you'd do great.

I know but I haven't ever trained for a triathalon. I am blind as a bat so I would have to get special goggles and a wetsuit. I have considered getting a bike but considered is a strong word.

OfftheCouchandTri - 2007-12-11 2:55 PM I'd like to join. My first tri will be this summer. I'm your basic nonathlete, wanting to get fit. I seem to go in spurts with my exercise. Having a mentor and group will be a great way to focus. I look forward to getting acquainted and getting in shape!

Mary,

I still don't see anything posted in your training logs. Perhaps you are digging out from one of these winter storms?

Where in Washington are you located? My dad lives in Squim.

Based on your picture, it looks like you wear contacts. I've swam with contacts multiple times without problems. Otherwise there are places on line that sell prescription swim goggles that are very reasonable (<$30 if I rememeber correctly).

Wetsuits are optional and tend to help weaker swimmers more than good swimmers. If you are still comfortable swimming that should not be a problem.

When looking at bikes, the way it fits is the most important part. There is pleanty of time to build bike fitness before next year.

Good luck!

Hi! Just a question..Do I simply fill out the training log here for my workouts and then they are made public? Do I need to do anything else?

Gracias!

Yes that is how you do it - You need to go to the contral pannel also to make sure that your training log is allowed to be seen. You can also add friends (other BTers) to your page so that then you just click on their picture or icon and go to their training log.

lrunfit - 2007-12-16 9:15 AM I know but I haven't ever trained for a triathalon.

It's not as hard as it seems, but plan accordingly for the time.  Time could be your worst enemy or your best friend.

Welcome to the club of eyesight-challenged.  I don't wear contacts and I have nearsightedness along with astigmatism, making everything blurry.  I suck it up during the swim and just wear tinted Tyr goggles when it's very sunny or some Speedo clear goggles in the pool or when it's overcast, and then wear prescription sunglasses for the bike and run.  But, everybody is different and may want to not "feel" handicapped during the swim and buy special prescription goggles.

As the holidays draw nearer, it gets harder to find time and energy to train. Lets post our expected training between now and the new years so we can help keep each other on track.

My plan is at home so I'll update my goals later tonight.

Welcome to real life triathlon training. I had to cut tonight's swim short to get the kids since the ex was having car trouble.

It all works out in the end!!

Wow, Impressive schedule over the holidays. I hear you on the eat/drink part. The last week has been lunch and dinners out with lots of great tasting, but high in sodium and fat foods. I feel sooooo bloated these days.

Looking at trying to pound out 5000 -7500 more yards this month, trying to put in 15 or so more miles running and 2-3 more hours on the bike.

I really want to start training for High Cliff but I am doing the 20 month plan here on BT and High Cliff is 25 weeks away, so I have to wait.  I think I may just do the 1st week over and over until it gets to be time to start.

Any thoughts on this Craig or anything you would suggest.

My turn:

Schedule looks crazy for the rest of the year. The plan is to train at least 30" a day. If I'm short one day I can make it up the next, but not the third day.

Please hold me to this plan!

Month of Dec. training -

Final week - finish up with 4 days of the week, 2 x 50 pushups, 2 x 50 situps/crunches each day.

Completed Dec. swim goal of 10,000 yards, but going over, since pool is closed for the next 2 - 3 weeks starting this coming Sat.

Jan. plan - continue doing minor abs/core workouts, and start running again.  Major running milage and time will be in the indoor track (which sucks).  Easy runs of 3 - 4 miles @ 8 - 9 min/mile pace, 3 - 4 days/wk.  Once the pool opens, back to 2 - 3 swims/wk for 1000 - 2000 yds.

Feb. plan - Use Jan. plan but add some mileage and yardage.
