So, I finally made it back to the gym today - hurrah!

Only ran for about 20mins - but at a fairly hard pace (for me!) and used it as a kind of miniLT test - do these numbers seem right?!

1 - Recovery121 - 155
2 - Extensive Endurance156 - 166
3 - Intensive Endurance167 - 174
4 - Sub-Threshold176 - 182
5a - SuperThreshold183 - 187
5b - Anaerobic Endurance188 - 193
5c - Power194 - 203

I can't see how I'd ever get into doing any 5c Power work! My chest would explode!! (I only tested for 10mins so I suspect it was just too intense?)

Green Day song - yep, very fast - I don't think my legs could spin fast enough to be in time - maybe alternate beats!!

Taking another day off. Was feeling really tired yesterday and dizzy. Got a good night sleep and felt better this morning. But I started to feel dizzy and lightheaded again this morning when I was out with the girls like the ground was moving under me. So I'm hoping that It's because I'm just doing too much too soon maybe and taking another day off and going easy the rest of the week. Lower volume low intensity w/o's. I think I need a training plan to avoid over training but not sure which one to go with. My first planned tri is a sprint distance but I feel like the times set in the programs are too short for me. Can you help me on that one? I'd like to shoot for an oly distance since xterra races can be up to that distance. Possibly run a 1/2 M this summer. And Of course get my mtb bike races in from xc - endurance 6+ hours. Too much? I just can't seem to pick just one....I get bored that way. I know there has to be a way to do it all without killing myself...right?

tripletmom01 - 2009-01-14 6:54 AM I love my ipod...but I cant wear it on my arm or anything becasue I am a total song switcher.  Ican nver listen to a WHOLE song.....and I keep switching to get to the songs I really like... sigh

You should buy yourself a shuffle. They are super cheap, like $30. I clip mine on my shirt and can switch songs super fast. I couldn't wear one on my arm either.

My kids all have the shuffels ( I know- spoiled)  I just sort of like holding it- although my run stride is much better without.

Id definitly go with an Olympic plan.... the ones on BT are actually pretty good.  You can always up your weekend nikes if you feel the need to and you can always MNT bike instead of road biking...all works the same muscles.   I took my mnt bike out a few times during IM training- just cuz I needed something different.  If you decide to run a hm.... just make your long runs a little longer then your plan says.  Let me know if you pick a plan I can help you vamp it.   I have never follewd a plan... it pretty much turns into Tammys plan- because I know what I want and what I need.

I only followed a plan once. But I'm finding if I don't, I run myself into the ground doing what feels good until I feel like crap and then keep doing it until I feel like I have the past couple of days...not good

Tough work out today, at least for me . 1.30 on the treadmill, day three week one of 200 sti-ups, day one of week two 100 pushups. I did the situps between the pushups, don't know if that's right but it's what I did.

I am thinking I'll start with the 20 Week Olympic - 2x Balanced and maybe do the first month+ maybe some more volume until it comes 20 weeks out from the oly distance race. What do you think?

I am feeling much better tonight!

Hi all.  I'm sorry I haven't been stopping by much recently.  I had something weird happen on a trainer ride today,  I actually broke a cleat.  I've never had that happen before but I was glad I was on the trainer and not on a ride.  L said she heard of someone DNFing in a race because of that.  I'm guessing it is a very low frequency malfunction, but I think I'll start taping an extra cleat under my saddle.  I already carry extra screws in my kit.  Has this happened to any of you?

I have a nice ofice job, ok cubical, my desk sits right up against the concrete outerwall when it's this cold out I can feel it just radiate in. I almost have a good wind coming through, kinda makes me wish I was back in the assembly department where the moving around generates body heat, and burns calories

Yes- those look good- I dont think I have evenr been in 5c...although I have been in 5b enough times

So you are feeling good?

I'm definitely not fixed - as you predicted I'm still coughing (a lot) like a wee old man, but I was getting bored sitting about! During the run I could feel my chest sore, were all the grot is and I've really been coughing like crazy since - I'm taking it as a good thing that I'm getting rid of it all! (Sorry to be so graphic!)

My wife wasn't very impressed at me - but what's new!Wink

Off to the pool at last - C ya!

I like gatorade, cliff bars and sport beans.  Have not tried the shot blocks.  Are they similar to the Sharkies?

LSD running is definitly a great way to shed pounds- although I think you look pretty darn good the way it is.

Ive never had sharkies- the shot blocks are bigger- they are yummy- I bought them by the case during IM (as well as a lot of other things- sigh)... I loved them on the bike.  Try em'!

Find out what is going to be on the course- if that works for you- thats awesome- a lot you dont have to worry about.

Thanks for the compliment.  I am not unhappy with the way I look.  Just excited to see if the love handles actually melt off.

I have never trained with a plan. My swimming coach gave me a plan. Now I am trying to figure out what I am going to do myself. It sounds like we are in the same boat. Please let me know what plan you pick!

I am going to do the 2 x a week balanced 20 week olympic program and I'm going to start on monday, I'm going easy the rest of this week because I really ran myself into the ground and I'll probably move each day forward one so my swims are on T/Th.

I ran easy 30 min this morning but I stil felt crappy afterwards, kind of lightheaded/headache. I still have somwhat of a headache but felt much better after yoga today. Could it be electrolytes? When I lived in Fl I really paid attention to that but now that I'm in NY and it's cold, not so much but I know I need to. I had 2 emergen-c today but that's all. I was using heed in Fl and shot bloks. I've been trying to make sure that I'm eating more Kcals too. I think I'm going to need to keep a food log to make sure, I usually use fitday.com

I also spoke with one of the lifeguards at our pool and she said she'd give me some pointers which will be good. I really wanted to swim with the lcwaves, they have some master swimmers that swim with them but It's a little bit pricey for me right now. So that will have to do for now. I was having alot of anxiety last night just thinking of getting in the open water...It's silly really, I've never had a problem in the water before, especially as a child you couldn't get me out of it! Rough ocean surf and all! So what gives?

Ok gotta go play with the kiddos, have a nice evening
